The Coldren car will be Bradley Howard
|
Jay, your Central Pa information is spot on, so I am not questioning you, but let's just say I just spit out my coffee when seeing Bradley Howard would be the driver for the #07 in 2022. Are they planning to run the whole All Star tour this season?

I was thinking someone like Cale Thomas might be the driver.
Bradley did run the whole All Star tour a few years ago in his family car, so it's not out of the question....

It seems like anyone with a truck & trailer can drive the 07. Only thing required to be hired

That is what I was thinking too.....
I am glad Mark continues to field a car. However, maybe they should be more worried about finding someone that can set the car up.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

It's all to do with that absurd XR series which is throwing money around like its going out of style. They claim streaming revenues allow them to go to tracks like Stuart Iowa which seats about 1200 and pay $25k to win. But that's a big reason why guys like Davenport and Overton are not running for points.
Honestly I'm surprised Flo didn't step up the All Stars purses this year more than they did. There's still a ton of $6k to win shows on the schedule.

You can add Chris "Smokey" Madden to that list of drivers dropping off a tour. Madden will chase paper as Big Sexy likes to say! In dirt late model racing, it really is the smart thing to do. With all the money being put up by Lucas Oil and World of Outlaws and the XR Series and the Castrol series why would you want to follow a series? In sprint cars, it's a little different story. They don't have near as many big-paying races as the late model world does. That's why you see more drivers stick with a series chasing the points championship at the end of the year.
Proudly supports:
Logan Seavey, Corey Day and "Big Sexy" Brandon Overton

This is why the All Stars should be stepping it up. There's no reason why that Castrol series couldn't have been a sprint car series, other than the fact that the GM of FloRacing is a late model guy and perhaps they feared some retaliation from the WoO.
In this day and age, to have as many $6k to win shows as the All Stars do, when Central PA seems to pay at least $5k to win for a ton of their shows is kind of embarassing. They have the Flo backing, they have Ohio Speedweeks, show some initiative. Would it really kill anyone to make all Ohio Speedweek shows, where you're basically guaranteed a big gate, pay at least $10k to win? Eldora paid $20k to win in 1983 for the first Ohio Speedweeks.

Agreed. All stars were paying 5G to win back in the late 90's and only 6G a quarter century later. You would think Stewart would be the one to make it happen. Remarkably they still have a decent roster.

What do they get to start and what do they get to follow the series?
Even though I may not know you, I

Standard $6k to win purse pays $1350 for 5th, $1100 for 10th. Total purse of $28,175.
This purse is fine for tracks where the fan support is suspect or there aren't many 410s around, but not for 26 races on your schedule including 7 of 9 Ohio Speedweek races.

Maybe consider shifting some $ from Eldora's purses over to his All Star series. A bit of reallocation might help balance the situation and motivate more drivers into the All Stars.

Add Scott Bogucki to the full time roster. Pretty ambitious for Snow Racing to go with 2 full time cars this year, good luck to them and all the All Stars in 2022.

Why? he only host his own series once at his home track that on any given weekend could host a bigger purse. Earl ran All Stars at least five or six times a year and they had decent crowds and car counts.
Of course the only competition was Posse. Now theres OVSCS, FAST and the Atomic Fremont groups.

The All Stars don't need more teams. 14 traveling teams is border line too many. Eldora and the All Stars should be run as completely seperate businesses. Why rob one business to feed another when they both seem to be doing fine.
The All Stars are still the 2nd highest paying series in the country. With that being said very few local tracks or series have had any major jumps in payouts outside of PA and Knoxville, so it's not suprising it hasn't gone up much. Speedweek does need a major overhaul. Better point fund and higher paying races should be the norm for speedweek. They're pulling 40 to 60 cars a night with packed stands, you would think someone would want to jump on board and sponsor it.

Not sure I would feel the need to overhaul much of anything if I was I am pulling in 40 to 60 cars with packed grandstands.
