Not exactly a sprint car but still has racing roots.
I am helping the Estate sell this 1973 VW Thing on Bring A Trailer.
This hot rod was modified by Bobby's long-time friend Bill Cheesebourg, a six-time Indianapolis 500 starter.
This should be interesting. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1974-volkswagen-thing-88/

Pretty cool. I wonder if Uncle Bobby drove that literal Thing from Albuquerque to Rocky Point as the license plate cover shows.

Sure as shit, picture 164 has some faded ink that I believe says "Rocky Pt" in the upper right corner. Google maps say that is a 10 hour modern day drive. I bet tough ol' Bobby did it in a straight shot. Cool piece of history, thanks for sharing.

Wow, thats super cool. I've been to Rocky Point a few decades ago, and have fond memories of that place.
Someone at one point was trying to run sprints there.
Thanks for sharing.
