Looks to be about $7k per race to be added to the 2022 purses for WoO regulars. I wonder if this plus the point fund increase will entice those on the fence (Gio, Marks, Courtney) to run the whole tour.

Curious if this replaces tow money or is it in addition? Anyone got the scoop

There's been enough reaction from drivers that if it were some kind of replacement for tow money, someone would have said something. From everything I've read, it's new money and In addition to everything else.

The money being generated by streaming services is significant and I'm happy it's being shared with the racers.

I'm actually surprised as well. I thought for sure we'd have someone lecture us on how unfair it is for the WoO to reward teams for following their series and how without local teams there would be no WoO.

This is good news for WoO racers. I don't understand the payout. It says that the highest WoO car in each WoO race will receive a $1000 bonus, and the 5th through 12th WoO car will receive $500. What about the WoO guys who finished 2nd, 3rd & 4th? Is that a misprint?

It's a poorly written release in that respect, Gravel had the same exact question on Twitter.
But the gist is that it's $1k for 1st WoO car, 2nd through 4th will get paid something between $1k and $500 and then $500 from 5th to 12th. I heard Carter say the added bonus is about $7k a race which between the sprints and LMs will be about $1m added to the WoO purses in 2022.

In a way, it reminds me of about half of everything I read on the internet. I find myself wondering out loud if anyone proofreads anything anymore. Then I go and yell at clouds.

Doesn't sound like a specific sponshorship is paying this money. As long as the fans don't have to pay for it this sounds like a nice bonus.

This move almost assuredly has to do with the LM series and to try to attract some top names and keep drivers from falling off the tour and the Lucas Oil series is far superior currently. For the sprint series it obviously is good for the teams/drivers and should ensure that the touring roster will never dip below 12 full-time teams
