On one of the races from Charlotte, I noticed Johnny mentionng teamates several times. As more NASCAR money and influence drift into the WoO, are we going to see it become more like roller derby on wheels?

Boy you really hate this time of year... first compounds, now teammates.

Well, yeah. Maybe I should have said roller derby on dirt.

I dont understand your concern. An announcer saying the phrase team mate does not mean more nascar money is coming to the WoO. Extra nascar money doesn't guarantee drivers will be more reckless.
So 2 drivers have a common employer. That is what that is. Period.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I think you're missing the point (or at least the point I thought he was making). I was thinking he was going more along the lines of team orders? And also racing people different based on how it would help the team? For example would a guy race a guy harder if it would help his team mate, like when he was getting lapped? Or would he allow someone to pass him based on it helping team mates? Based on how things worked out for NASCAR over the last couple months, that seems to be where things are heading at least in NASCAR. If that's where you're going I think it's possible but it would be harder to have as big of an effect since I don't believe there's 2 way radio communication between the crew and driver? And there's typically only 30-50 laps in an outlaw race, so that would make it more difficult in my opinion? If he was reffering to sharing setups, I would guess that already happens?

Thanks. I'm glad someone understood where I was going with this.
Let's use and example, with made up names. Rod in Canada and I are teammates, racing for team owner, former NASCAR driver Tony Johnson. We're at a big race, like the Knoxville Nationals, where Rod is starting Saturday night's feature on the pole and I'm starting 13th on the grid.
Where do teammates, teamwork and team come into play? Since I'm not going to win from 13th, my job looks to be to help Rod win. When Rod laps me, I'm practically waiving him past. Now, when Donny Sweet or Brad Schatz tries to pass, I'm suddenly the widest car on the track. As we seem to be seeing more muli-car teams in the WoO-NASCAR owned or others- is there a potential to change the nature of sprint car racing?

I understand your question better now, thank you. You may see some of that as a result of a pre-race strategy, but with no communication to your pit and some race sonly lasting 8 minutes I donubt any strategies would be implemented during a race.
For those who watched races live this summer did you ever see Madsen and schatz working together or McFadden and sweet??
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Murphy your confidence sucks and you should be fired out of a top notch ride. Really Sheldon Gravel should replace your ass because your not getting it done.

You tell us.... have you seen that kind of behavior on the track?
I could be wrong but I haven't noticed it...

I agree that it would be tough to do. However, I'm always amazed when drivers say they're watching the board to see what position cars are in and I could be wrong but I thought heard one guy who won say he watched on the video screen where the 2nd place car was running so he could take his line away, but I might have dreamt that. As a fan I think it would be very difficult to read a board well going 100 plus mph for a very short distance and decipher what car is where, but they seem to do it so I wouldn't say it would be impossible but I don't think it will be like what has happened in NASCAR.

No, I haven't seen anything like that in WoO racing, but it's common in some other places. Locally, I've seen fendercars play roller derby to help out team mates or siblings. And how many of those YouTube videos are there of Hillbilly clans fighting after a race because of something similar?
I'm just thinking that with more mulit-car teams in the WoO, it would seem there could be more emphasis put on 'teamwork". Some car owners demand a lot and want to win at any cost.

Really? Sheldon Gravel? Now you're hurting my feelings. Although, I could see me getting replaced by one of the higher tier guys like Giovanni Colagiovanni.

If you don't think you can win from a 13th starting position why are you even out there?? Anybody can win from any given starting position!
Proudly supports:

Sure, I suppose that's the right way to look at it. How many WoO races were won this year from the 7th row?

I really think he was just trying to be clear and specific to make his point.
Yes we all know it is physically possible to win from last place in the M main

" Hillbilly clans fighting after a race "..... now you're bringing back memories
I got started watching dirt track racing in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley back in the early 60s, "Jalopies", sportsmen & modified, which were all old hotrod coupes. Smokey Stover dominated at Waynesboro's Eastside Speedway, winning 22 out of 24 races in 1962, almost all starting from the back cause they did a full inversion based on season points. One of the few times he lost was when 3 other drivers boxed him in, front & both sides. Smokey pulls into the infield & a fistfight ensues...
There were no teams involved, but everybody there was either "pro Smokey" or "anti Smokey", so I guess all the other drivers were "anti"!
Eastside still exists, but only as a drag strip since they closed the dirt track a few years ago. I'm looking at a photo of Smokey & his 3 Window Coupe, 327 Chevy engine with factory fuel injection, on my shelf at this very moment....

This old fart is trying to learn how to use my 1st Smartphone (they forced us by shutting down 3G). Just took a picture of the Smokey picture, downloaded it to my laptop, tried to post it here. It says use File Manager to post from computer, tried that, but i get "access denied"
Any advice from some of you young computer experts?

No rear view mirrors or two way communication would change Nascar teammate racing.Sprint cars had two way radios but now use a raceceiver one way from tower. As for scoreboard showing races might be best located across from grandstand instead of on leader board.Guys like Schatz,Madsen,Sweet, and Mcfadden race each other hard. When Kinser took out Tony he made the replays about his displeasure. F! has team orders and so does Nascar.

I think Luke Warmwater will take your seat.
