None of what you are about to read it true... But that doesn't mean that it couldn't be......None of what you are about to read comes from any inside source or knowledge of planned events.... But that doesn't mean it couldn't be....
Suppose fans had a vote in the sprint car hall of fame each year... Think anyone would get excited?? I bet Strauser would vote for the water truck driver from Port Royal.. Nah.. maybe not.... Anyhow, how many of you opinionated race fans would want a say in that??? Might draw some interest to a place that deserves some I think......Beer Hill alone could give you 25 names and every reason for their nomination being just.. Each area of the country has their own Beer Hill in some version...
So... here's mine.... For years to the average person in the grand stands... The World of Outlaws really always boils down to between 5 to 12 or so traveling hot shoes taking on all comers... But with one added attraction... And although he never won a race he really made the show..... You got it.... good old Johnny Gibson....fastest talkin man I ever heard..... He has become an American icon in the world of sprint cars... He is the equal of Ted, Steve, Doug Sammie and everyone else in his contributions... Put him in the hall and do it now... please.....

A fan vote may be worthwhile as long as it doesn't automatically determine a member, but rather balances in some fashion with the current voting committee. It's also worth noting that anyone can submit a potential inductee through the process detailed on the NSCHOF website already - not directly a fan vote, but an avenue for fans to support those they believe worthy of induction.
And secondarily - Johnny will absolutely get in, and in no fashion is the NSCHOF comprised of drivers alone. Plenty of non-drivers have been inducted, and per the rules, aside from drivers, the following may be inducted: owner, builder, sponsor, mechanic, manufacturer, promoter or media member, so long as they meet the induction guidelines.
