There is a lot of smoke (talk) about Indy Car returning to Iowa Speedway next year under Hy-Vee sponsorship and a lot of people are rooting for that to happen. It would be great if IndyCar and Iowa Speedway worked with Knoxville to help Knoxville put on a show Thursday (assuming IndyCar runs Friday and Saturday nights) night and create a truly spectacular open wheel weekend. I don't know the particulars of Knoxville being able to run during the week, but if some creative sponsorship efforts were involved hopefully it could happen. I'd make the 1,000 mile trip to see an Outlaw or ASCoC / IndyCar doubleheader.

Best hope Iowa Speedway doesn't become a parking lot like KY Speedway

Would be great if all of the major/money/televised racing series incorporated cross promotional races with each other and dirt track/short track racing. A weekend with two tracks like that so close would be a win win for all. I would be up for driving another weekend out of the year to watch a race at Iowa if Knoxville was running as well with no conflicts. Couple years ago I saw the trucks & Xfinity were running at Iowa the same weekend as the Outlaws in Knoxville. I started looking on the site for tickets and noticed that the races at Iowa were night races basically competing with Knoxville. I couldn't believe at what an opportunity was missed by lack of awarenesses. I am sure the same amount of fans would have shown up for a day race vs a night race, and probably a lot of the people who went to Knoxville instead.

It would be so innocent if it were a "missed" opportunity. I believe it is arrogance by Indy car that is the issue. They believe no one tells them who the competition is. Unfortunately, they are incorrect to think there is no competition down the road from Newton.

Crazy that KY Speedway not being used. I remember hearing about the crazy traffic for the first couple Cup races there. They even built extra lanes on the interstate for a couple miles to help.

Glad to hear the Newton track will have some action, I always thought it was a racey place. Shame about Kentucky, I remember all the efforts put into getting nascar there, seems like they got carpped on. PPIR speedway in Fountain CO is another nice track that went by the wayside as far as racing, seems like now they schedule car shows and concerts, maybe the burnout and drifting events are cool to some.
