Anyone have insights into why so many wings were falling apart last night? Cars have been going that fast there for a while and have not seen that many issues. Where they all made by same manufacturer? I think I even saw a front wing fail.

People in the know on Twitter were speculating that clumps of dirt were dislodged from the surface and causing that.

I forget which car but I saw a pic of a busted hood & side panel as well. It was definitely mud/ dirt clumps.

Because the track sucked and was coming apart with clumps flying up.

Not a manufacturer thing as others noted. I saw on Twitter apparently the mud clods also bent axle and steering components as well. Wasn't there but seems like it was just absolutely nasty.

Hi all, Jeff Wesell fron Hepfner Racing Products (HRP Wings). We've had conversations with all of our customers running our wings last night as well as some of the teams running other manufacturers wings and all (of those we've spoken to or via text) reported that the cause of failures were the damage from the mud clogs, chunks, not from parts, material or building issues.
The side board collapse on the 17B of Bill Balog was from a mud clump taking out one of the wing struts that supports the board.
Certainly was wild to see so many with wing, arm guard and body damage. Glad all were okay.

So the next question is why was the track throwing such big mud clods? I don't remember this being such an issue in the past. It did look to be really wet. The cushion never moved up to the wall. Paulie made a comment that the track seemed a little different like maybe the banking was different than recent visits. Did they cut it differently? Over water? Other? I hope they figure it out tonight. No one wants to see equipment torn up by the track. And I'd like to see it slow down just a little. It's hard to really race when everyone is just holding it wide open.
