Not sure why this would be considered a Month of Money race. Doesn't it just pay the regular 10 grand to win? Someone correct me if I am wrong. I realize it is a fund raiser for Brad, but there are many other races out there during the year that pay more than this. There are also memorial races and benefit races all across the land.

it is a 10k to win race. It is the beginning of the "month of money" because the calendar falls from the Doty to the Nationals is around 30 days. With other Big races and some "normal" 10k races in between (I55, Royal(s), Knoxville).

Although it isn't a rich purse, would winning the Doty race would be somewhat prestigous?

It's a race where if you win, your name gets on a t shirt and Brad is obviously a great ambassador and his race is automatically prestigious. That said, it should pay more, it's well attended, gets a ton of cars etc...
Should probably pay $20k like the Ironman.

As a business person, if I was holding an event that was well attended, and got a ton of cars, I don't know if I'd try to find a way to give more of my profits away.............................................. Seems like the purse is about perfect?

At some races, the fans take it upon themselves to raise money for bonuses, lap money, etc. Maybe this would be a good opportunity for those it think the race should pay more.

I would because it is the right thing to do. The tracks that are flourisihing right now are mostly the tracks that also pay out the best and have the most big races, seems to be a connection there.

Another year, another Brad Doty race, another thread about the Brad Doty race being 10k to win and being part of the "month of money." Gets asked every year. It's semantics, just a title, just a phrase. In reality it's a race that the drivers look forward too each season because Brad is someone they look up to. Also, yes it's just another regular Outlaw race in the middle of the week. Brad does a lot of the leg work and makes himself available all throughout the show for the fans. If the winners payout doesn't hurt the driver's feelings, it shouldn't hurt ours

I mean maybe drivers don't care but Paul Silva seems like he does....
1,000 additional seats?! Does that mean we’re gonna see the Brad Doty Classic raise the winners share from the standard @WorldofOutlaws purse?! I mean prestigious race for a living legend should only pay more right ♂️

Once again, I'm confused at what needs to be "fixed." There are well over 300 cars per year that show up at the Chili Bowl and waiting lists for seats. Why does the purse need to be fixed? Is there a boycott brewing behind the scenes we don't know about?

I think they should reduce the CB purse a little bit each year just to see if they can get away with it until eventually each driver will have to pay money everytime they hit the track.

I thought this was a fundraiser for Brad Doty. If they increase the payout does that not come right out of Brad's funds? So maybe the drivers race somewhat as volunteers to help raise as much money for a friend as possible and sleep well each night knowing they were charitable, not greedy.
Correct me if I'm wrong! ( like I had to ask to be corrected)

Correct, the Doty Classic has not been a 'fund raiser' for quite some time. Brad is the promoter, and now it's just a bad ass mid week race in honor of Brad kicking off the Kings Royal week.

Was pretty sure I read it was a fundraiser. Please dont label me as disrespecting him for alluding to raising money for himself. I know very little about him and dont want to paint him with a bad brush. I was just recalling my memory which obvious was wrong or wrongly influenced.
Sorry about the comment from left field on this one.

I guess I've never understood why a fan would care how much a race pays? Paul Silva is a part of the sport so I think he has every right to his own opinion. But why is this a big deal to fans? I guess when I go I'd rather see a good race instead of worrying about how much money the winner gets.

Almost every driver pays money to hit the track anyways.....................which is where the sponsor comes in. If you can find a way to pencil out running one of these cars across the USA, with the hauler, crew, engines, tires, etc., and make it pay for itself with the purse and points fund alone, you are a smart man.
I usually say it once per year------------stop trying to calculate how a sprint car team can survive on the purse they run for. They can't. Sprint car teams come to the track WITH money............not FOR money.
