Well said. Frankly sick of Kyle Larson, Bell and company coming to cherry pick all the big money races from the locals, very bad for the sport in my opinion. It's kind of like major league baseball players coming back to play little league. Sure it's fun for the big leaguer, but hardly an even playing field. Weekly 410 racers were having a hard enough time keeping a car on the track before the Nascar crowd started coming in to compete in all the local racing crown jewels. Not taking anything away from Larson, the guy is an amazing talent... best I've seen. Just trying to look at the big picture and long term well being of the sport.

Thats how the whole idea of "outlaws" came about!
Locals have to race vs. the best to prove themselves.... if you might recall a few years ago, Posse did it pretty often
& DON'T call them "Little Leaguers"!!!!

Track conditions were very good again for the feature. Winner from front row last night had nothiing to do with who won. The stupid way they line up for the features during Speedweek is the reason. No sure what is the correct way but I personally do not like redrawing for starting spots. It all starts with the way they line up the heat races. Fast qualifiers needs to work harder to qualify. The dont have to pass a single car to qualify for feature. Great job again Fred Putney. Also KUDOS to Lincoln for not having any support divisions during a week night show. Was over by 10pm. and home before 11pm.

"Winner from front row last night had nothiing to do with who won
Now THAT makes a lot of sense.......
In case you don't catch the sarcasm: NOT!

Well it seems that most of the fans, myself included, love to see Larson race
Same with Outlaw shows
As others have said, puts more butts in the seats. Attendance at regular WG weekly races isn't that great

Good to know I have at least one friend on here.
An amazing talent ....a gasser....neat to watch him blast around the outside but struggle with him taking probably close to $200K in the last year from guys that really need it.
|
I would assume then by your comments that you, and anyone else opposed to Larson running in PA, are not a fan of capitalism, correct?

You do make some valid points, but have you been to the dirt tracks to see who those new eyes belong to? Sure does make you shake your head sometimes and is one reason I don't care if I go to the Wednesday race.
|
I understand....I am not going Wednesday either and it has nothing to due with who is going to be there!
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

I'll probably draw some ire here, but you don't want to be around 'those people'? Are those the same ones you keep yelling at to get off your lawn? (Truth in advertising: we're probably close in age.)

I believe more fans last night because Larson and Bell were coming mostly Nascar as I saw more 5 shirts than 57. There were good crowds prior to them showing as well.
Track was just OK. Not a great race except for Kendall and Larson but OK at best.
I do appreciate the track on a weeknight keeping the show moving, and one division. I am all for that during the week and big shows. When you have kids that want to meet drivers early nights sure help.
Passing on tonight though alittle steep and again wish only one division. Also don't want to bring half the track back to my car. Still can't figure out how to make the track less dirt and dust. Last year could not even see the cars into turn 1 and two for the dirt. Wish all the drivers good luck tonight. Been a good speedweek so far. If any promoters read these. Keep the show moving as kids are the future and can't always hang with the adults. Specials shows do not need extra divisions. Kudos to Lincoln last night!
|
totally agree about the 410 only show. my kids were awake for the feature and to meet the drivers for a change. having larson/bell there drew everybody away from the pa guys so we walked right up to most of them. already knew chad trout is a class act but he was still there after a bad night.
gettysburg clash is my favorite outlaw event and the 410 only show might be my favorite night of speedweek. lincoln makes the most out of not always getting the weekend dates.
as far as larson/bell...i definitely see both sides. it's a treat to have them there...but they don't need the purse money and especially the souvenir sales. people mob the larson trailer. hopefully that's not money that could have gone to another driver. i also hope track promoters funnel the money down somehow to weekly shows or other events that might end up having bigger purses.
by the way...t-shirt game was really strong last night. tj stutts has a beautiful one with the susquehanna river on it (unfortunately they were running out of teal). ryan smith put out his new stuff and chad trout has a tie dye version of his shirt for the season. rico has a rainbow tie dye speedweek shirt and he's always good about having kids sizes.

Explain to me again how what was intended as friendly discussion results in personal insults.
Lets just put up a Tyler Walker sticky thread and call it good.

Actually, I think the discussion started by a post about terrible track conditions and complaining about how horrible the race was going to be.....................

Id like to see Larson donate his portion back to a local charity, named ahead of time by online fan voting.
That would make him more of a hero and possibly sell him enough tshirts to cover his donation if he finished 3rd or back.
The roll back on that move might not be profitable in the end but it sure would change the landscape.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I hope this is sarcasm. If not, what?
Paul Silva should just spend all the money it takes to field a sprint car team an donate all winnings to charity? That's crazy. It's not Larson's car and $, just like the 39 is not Bell's car.
With that line of thinking, because Tony Stewart has made good business decisions, he and Schatz should donate their winnings to charity. After all, Donny has his own plane - how much money does he need? Kahne and Sweet, same. Dewease/Kreitz have won a ton of races and $, so same for them.
Larson/Silva and Bell/Swindell have every right to enter any race they want as long as they comply with the rules.
Bottom Line: getting tired of seeing them win and taking the loot? Step up your game and beat them on the track. Example: Lucas Wolfe setting fast time last night and then stepping on it in his heat by mising the setup by a mile and blowing his chance at a front row starting spot in the feature was not any "cherry pickers" fault.

Not being sarcastic. I did mention his share meaning his share, not Silvas share.
I was just suggesting an idea which I know wont be done but I am sure if he did, he may come out pretty close to equal at the bank but light years ahead everywhere else.
The others you mention are mostly committed to a sanction and racing is their job. Tony has a foundation, does he not, so he has already turned that corner which only helps his PR.
I dont expect anyone to race for free and I dont really care if money leaves the race host state. Pay your entry fee wherever you like.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I started this post on track conditions and it turned into why Larsen and Bell are racing and cherry picking so I will add my two sense and say racers race for a living so they should be able to race whatever they choose to race in be it asphalt or dirt

The Nascrap teams are wishing Larson would go dirt racing full time.

Started 7th last night an won in the sprints. Larson is one driver that would put me int a seat at a racetrack. Don't get me wrong I enjoy watching others race too, however, Larson never gives up and keeps digging for more the whole race long! As Jeff Gordon put it - how can such a nice guy turn into such a bear behind the wheel of a racecar? He is so fun to watch! I enjoy each and every time I get to see him drive a racecar.

He will be racing near you tonight if it doesn't rain. Be there!
