I think Madsen would have been fine. His deal had more to it than most realize. Family is important and his priorities are his personal business.

As a Posse fan, I was thrilled when The Madman was named as the driver of the Barshinger #24, and the opportunity to see him race on a regular basis. His performance in Smoke's car this weekend prooves he is still a premier talent....that being said, there are several Central Pa drivers on the struggle bus....Wolfe,Campbell, Norris, Moody....Shaffer seems to have lost his early season mogo and it remains to be seen how Halligan does replacing Madsen....still a lot of racing to sort things out.

So Madsen left PA and the 24 to be at home more, (in Knoxville I believe) then comes back to PA a few days later in the TSR 14 car and runs all week in PA? Why even take the ride in the first place? I love the Madman and was stoked to see him run around here but how do you not know that you weren't going to be home very often, after signing with a full time team based in PA? Just doesn't add up to me. Guess that why I'm sitting in the stands..

Let's remember 1 guy by the name of Doug Wolfgang. He commuted from South Dakota for how long ? Then it got to the point he just didn't want to do it anymore. That team will go down in my eyes as one of the greatest sprint car teams ever.
The thing that is surprising to me is who is in the 24 seat. Time will tell, but I don't believe he will have enough to show he can do it.

The 14 car will be on the Outlaw tour for the foreseeable future. Originally it was supposed to be Joey Saldana in the car, but his boy got hurt and the deal is on hold. Which is where Kerry comes into the picture. Tony wanted to put a veteran in the car to be able to provide feedback to help get Donny on the right track.

I wrote the wrong info. But the 14 car will for the most part be racing regularly with a veteran driver to help get Donny going with the Ford program. Tony would do it, though he's adm ittedly not as experienced behind the wheel of the 410 and in his own words "I can't provide the info on what I feel in the car in a way that is helpful to Donny and that team". So he had struck a deal with Saldana to run the car regularly (Outlkaw shows and othert bigger shows) to provide feedback on the program. Kerry ended up getting the call after Saldana's son got injured in his micro.

Just being silly here, but if Tony wants a clear no nonsense assessment of the car he could hire Sammy. Experienced, vocal, comfortable with sharing his true feelings..... sounds like the best r and d guy to me......

Seems silly to me that anyone driving the other car could possibly help Donny's team. It's not like he's a young kid without much experience. My guess would be Tony picked the best available driver to put in the seat because he wants the #14 upfront too.
Will be interesting to see who is the next driver of #07. Balog looked good in the car at the end of last year.
