RobinCanada. Bingo. TS was fast, and did you see who Tony was talking to first when he climbed out of the car. Ricky Warner. There is your difference. I don't believe it's DS having issues with the motor, he may have lost his magic man. For the little I saw on camera warner looked pretty good. That guy loves sprint car racing and he is as intense as any driver.

Exactly. And he has many fans who still enjoy watching him not to mention marveling at the fact that a guy 64-65 can still wheel a 410 sprint car. Last night, though not a win or even top 5, he finished 10th, right behind Reutzel & Gio. So to say he can't run is silly. Is he a threat to win on any night, probably not, but in the right ride he certainly can run top five or ten. Remember, last Kings Royale he started on the pole and ended up 6th or 7th. Could have maybe won but some of those big teams just have better stuff than the 39 team, period. I'll enjoy watching him till the day he walks away.

LOL! Don't pat him on the back too hard with a 10th place finish...LOL again and again and again......with only 26 cars and some guys I never even heard running a 410 before. Yeah he did great LOL! He should have hung it up a few years ago. He is too old period end of discussion.
Yeah in that Kings Royal he had his rear view mirrors set real nice. Starting on the pole and falling out of the top 5.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

How do you have the time to knock anyone, aren't you working on your track prep skills from your mom's basement? I thought you and WingedStrawser were down there telling each other how smart you two are and that everyone else is clueless.

I'm sure he's still way better than average, but after being one of the best, has to be disappointing
If he enjoys it, fine, but its disappointing for his fans too. I keep hoping for a big upset win, but I'm starting to lose hope...

Just like an oldies act, they can't hit the high notes and the concerts aren't as good but the merch sales are still awesome.

Interesting thing is, Sammy can still get rides. It seems that the people who matter (owners) still see some potential for success. Those that don't matter get to share their knowledge on the internet.

How could you not go to the scales ? There is no good reason.
|
Things happen. I think maybe he thought scales were in pits not infield. I have seen this happen with well known drivers several times like at Knoxville Nationals. I do not understand why people want to be so negative about Sammy. Sammy is Sammy and he is a good guy. He can still drive a car. All he needs is at this time more HP in his engine. This is a low budget team, Give them some credit for being there. After all who would you bitch about if Sammy was not there? I would sure like to see some of you grandstand cream puffs buy a car and show us how to do it.

Maybe Smoke will give Sammy a top level ride in his retirement year like Rico has done for Jac.
But if that happens, Sammy will win 10 races and not retire. Lol
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

He is too old for 410's. Now he is up side down.

He beat the best in PA 2 out of 3 nights in Arizona, ask Lance if Sammy can still race....

Senior moment? I started needing reading glasses at 50 & started losing my memory a bit at 60....
I'm a Sammy fan, but maybe he should hang it up....
However, he's doing what he loves... I kept playing basketball with bad knees for years

I am 69 and doing what I love, writing and recording music. The difference between the things me and Sammy love is that another home studio won't run into mine and send me violently flipping. I coundn't and wouldn't want to go through that at this age and I really enjoy doing things that are more age appropriate for my sixty something body.
I hope that this fantasy that is prevalent on this board that old Sprint Car drivers are immortal ends well.

I wouldn't drive in a sprint car race when I was 20!!! Call me any variation of "chicken" you want
You talk about your age a lot but I'm a year older & swim a 1/2 mile or ride a bike 8-16 miles damn near every day (often both in the summer). You gotta fight back!
Doing neither today cause temp is in the teens & windy today, swam 3 times this week & doing laps in a pool gets boring. Sometimes I swim a mile outside cause there's scenery & I can "Rastaculate"

Some old farts have it & some don't. I saw Smokey Robinson maybe 5 years ago at New Orleans Jazzfest & he had the audience in the palm of his hands... superb! It was so good I saw him again in Denver that winter & it was the same way: all the middle aged Chicanas swarmed the stage when it was over to touch his hand
You seem to like metal.... would it piss you off if I said those guys sucked in their prime???

I do a couple miles a day on the treadmill and increase the distance. I still wouldn't drive a Sprint Car.

I rob licks and sound settings from metal and some of the stoner/doom downtuning and fuzz but at darned near 70 I span the full spectrum from seeing Elvis and the Beatles live on Ed Sullivan right up to the present. I would not say that I'm a metal head but have seen bands like Dream Theater, Yngvie and Queensryche. My son-in-laws band plays the down tuned stuff as well but I'm not so vested in it that anything anyone would say about it is worth getting angry over. Likewise this discussion about Sammy driving in his mid sixties. I know Late Model HOF driver Tom Nesbit and he drove up until he was around 70. Its just racing, entertainment, not worth fighting, people are entitled to their opinions.

I was just giving you a hard time... its great that you're still playing music!!!!
I'm more into the "rootsy" stuff: blues, soul, old rock'n roll, old country, etc....

Sammy could race to he is a 150 years old and still not have the wins and championships as The KING STEVE KINSER, even if he was racing in his prime shape the whole time.

Yep, I have a home studio and a 24 track recorder/mixer. Ironic based on the subject of this thread that I quit racing photography when I was around 64/65 and took up music as a hobby. It's something I can do without having to run from spinning race cars. Maybe Sammy should think about taking up music. He is around the age I was when I decided to give up chasing races. Last year I spent the whole season watching on PPV and have since decided that it's here to stay as my main way of following the sport.
