I'd love to see more photos of this car if anyone has any!

I'll second that. I've never seen this before. I'm surprised there aren't more cars like this out there - a little tricked up but still within the rules.

How would taller rollbars make the car faster?

thank you, butcher!
is there a better forum than Hoseheads? I mean, it should not be that difficult to post a pic. and i know i struggled just to get the link to post.
anyway...the engine was offset also...like in a midget?
makes me ask the question, that on a big track like Volusia...are the turns as important as the straight line?

Joe and I never did trade shirts, but Scott Shaver and I did. The only other engine builders shirt I owned, lol.

Hey Kelly. Tell us a little about that car. We can see the cage is bent a little different and of course the big side panels. But the motor doesn't look offset from these pics. What were some of the tricks that would be illegal now? I'm guessing tubing was one. There's a minimum thickness now. Did they have some slip tubes too? If it worked so well why didn't they continue to run it? Was it shutdown after those first few nights or they just put it away?

I honestly have no clue. They really kept a lid on that. We were just the engine guys, lol.

The next race that car ran at after winning all but one of the races it entered in Florida was at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri., where it also won. Vern Massey from Jacksonville, Illinois (note the Massey Inc on the front wing) was one of the owners or backers of this car. He was seated near me in the pit bleachers at that race. Following the race win, he said the only thing that has beaten this car was a water truck, referring to the race that it did not win in Florida.
