Hello All,

I dont understand why they are making such a big deal about the CB being on Flo Racing when the Saturday night features are NOT live on FR.  I dont understand why and agreement cant be made to have ALL of the CB in one place.  I dont have MVA TV so now I have to buy a 2nd subscription servive to see the evewnt live.  I also dont't understand why LO TV doesnt have their shit together as far as posting a schedule/prices for the event?  Thoughts?  I'd like to see everyone work together a little better for the good of the sport.

I look at it this way... the week of Chili Bowl (without the mains) used to run I think at least $100 if not more when it was on Racing Boys.  $150 gets you a whole year of Flo, which has TONS of content... i.e. I'll watch every lap of the Tulsa Shootout this week whereas in years past wouldn't have given it a second thought.

The setup was always the same when it was with Racing Boys, too.  They carried the prelims then it switched to Mav/LORTV for the mains. I'm sure part of the heavy Lucas Oil sponsorship wanted the main events to be on MAV/LORTV.

You can go to nkt.tv next Saturday and get a month of MAV for only $6.99 then cancel, it's the cheapest way to watch the mains without LORTV/MAV.  LORTV this year is shaping up to be a better value than years past as well as they will carry all of the Lucas Oil Late Model dirt races, too. I agree it's inconvenient, since it's such a niche channel, but it's never been more economical than it is this year.

Last year I got the final night on a streaming service called Tikilive.  I think it was $6.99 and I cancelled at the end of the month.  I see that they still show the MAVTV logo in their channel lineup and I already have an account setup from last year.  Does anybody know any reason that I can't go through them again this year?  I thought I saw someone mention something about them not carrying it but they show it in the lineup.

will they post the chili bowl a main after it's over?  i'll probably be asleep when they run it anyway.

even if i miss the a main...i can't say enough good things about floracing.  i never even heard of the tulsa shootout before this year and we had it on most of the day yesterday.  can't beat 10 hours of racing on a holiday.  there is probably a ton of racing ahead of the chili bowl a main that we'll get to watch.  i've become much more of a non-wing fan by being able to watch all the usac midget and sprint car races.  it's all for what i think is an excellent price compared to dirtivision which is 3 times more and i'm only really interested in the outlaw races which have about a 3 day turn around time on posting replays.  that's a snails place in today's internet streaming world.

not to mention they're keeping people home and safe during a pandemic.

another bonus is you get caa college basketball and i'm a drexel alum.  i promise i don't work for them even though it probably sounds like it.

FYI - DirtVision now posts full replays within a couple hours after a race.   The full race is available for replay the next morning.     You must select "Exclusive Content" from the main menu.         Since I feel ripped off by some of DirtVision's tactics like their 28 day billing  "month",     I only subscribe to their service for 56 days per year.

Flo is just awesome and it keeps getting better.    For example, Flo will broadcast the Wild Wing Shootout on Jan 22 -24.   It is in Arizona.   Tony Stewart, Donny Schatz, Rico Abreu, Lance Dewease, Cory Eliason, Tim Kaeding, Dominic Scelzi, Aaron Reutzel, D.J. Netto, C.J. Leary, Colby Copeland, Tucker Klaasmeyer, Ryan Timms, Tanner Carrick, Blake Carrick, Charles Davis Jr., and Giovanni Scelzi are among the list of drivers who have already voiced an intent to compete in the three-race swing.

The other morning I got up and it was quite early and Flo was broadcasting a Live sprint car race from down under.

I don't work for Flo.   I'm just a very happy customer.

I will second that, Floracing has been my lifeline since I quite chasing races a few years ago.   Last summer I got Floracing for the sheer number of races and Dirtvision for Knoxville weekly and whatever Outlaw races looked interesting.  I tend to shy away from watching Outlaw races when they're at some of the places that only manage a dozen and a half cars and only watch their bigger shows.  That is why I enjoy the All Star races, 50 car fields are the norm, there are generally a minimum of support classes and most races are eastern time so they start and end an hour earlier than central time.

I had the priviledge of getting to know Bill Balog when he first moved to Wisconsin and wrote a story about him one time.  It will be fun watching Bill racing with the All Stars so I am looking forward to that.  Indiana Midget week along with Sprints as support classes found a place on my bucket list after watching them on Flo.  I've got a former shipmate that I worked on the catapult crew with who has a spread near Ft. Wayne so I'd like to work that into the trip as well.  Promoters used to worry that televising races would affect attendance but I think dirt track fans are one of the most rabid fan base in sports.  We see these races on TV and our first reaction is to plan a triip to them.  I still have some catching up to do so I'm looking forward to getting back on the road.

And nobody actually calls him "North Pole Nightmare", right? wink

Bill tinkers around with guitars like I do and has an SG he got from his grandfather and a Strat that he bought a few years back.  We talked more about playing guitar than racing the Last few times a I saw him.  I can't recall exactly when we first met but I think it was the first time he ran the 360 he brought with him from Washington at Cedar Lake.  North Pole Nightmare is announcers hype, I knew him before they tagged him with that nickname.  I'm not big on the driver nicknames and think of them as people who happen to drive race cars for a living.  All the years of interviewing, photographing and hanging around the pits and infield it was more of a routine like a part time job.  If a driver gave me an quote or let me take their photo for an article they were my favorite for a few minutes until I moved on to the next one.

Bill is a hard worker, excellent driver and good with fans and media.  He lived near the Minnesota border for a few years when he first moved here and left for the Milwaukee area after few years.  The last time I saw him was last season (or was it the year before) when he ran a 360 at Princeton, MN.

The All Stars are fortunate to have Bill running with them.  He will make a lot of new fans and likely will be competitive every night.

Unlike Yogi Berra. Thats what everybody called him. His teamates in the minor leagues named him that cause he looked like a yogi they saw on a newsreel. You're probabably old enough to remember newsreels at the movies, right? wink

Its probably a $$$ issue. MavTV can afford to pay more for Finals, I bet...

They probably noticed an uptick in MAV TV subscriptions in January and want to keep some of that.

They recently announced that the ASCS 360's will be broadcast on Floracing and they were formerly only available on MAVTV and LORTV.  I'm not sure of the what or whys as I don't follow that series, ironically because I didn't want to pay more for (you guessed it) another PPV racing fee to their former channels.  That will be nice as they have a lot of races that I would check out now that I have them on Flo.  wink

The Chilli Bowl is a once a year event in the middle of winter. Watch it or don't. If you are to cheap to spend a little money for enjoyment thats fine but no need to whine about it.

The driver nicknames are generally the idea of one of the annoucers coming up with it and the name sticking.  The only time I think of or use the term "the North Pole Nightmare" is when I'm getting my snowmobile suit on to clear the driveway after a foot of snow.  The drivers generally get a kick out of the names that announcers come up with and ofen use them on their merch.  I have one of Bill's shirts but I can't recall if it says that on it but I usually opt for plain pocket t-shirts to keep my reading glasses in the pocket.  The last time I wore a racing shirt I hung an expensive pair of perscription glasses on the collar and they got run over by an 18 wheeler.  So much for racing shirts.  wink

IIRC, when Floracing announced this, that the Chili Bowl will be available on the next day (Sunday) on demand. This works fine for me.

Love the 360 series. Get to see them each year at Dirt Cup at Skagit.
