December issue of SprintCar and Midget:
"you can do dumb things in a midget but they don't want to hurt you" (usually I assume he meant). "With sprint cars, when the back door of the hauler drops, it (the sprint car) is sitting there wanting to hurt you". "I driver fairly hard but, at the same time, I am scared every day I get into a sprint car race". "When I go to a midget or silver crown race, I know things can happen, but darn near every day in a sprint car I am marginally scared". "Now I do it because I'm a sprint car driver and that's what I do." There is northing wrong with being marginally scared."
I agree with what he said 100%. That is some of the wild and dangerous aura/aspect/character that is 410 sprint car racing and why it is so popular and the popularity is growing and growing.
Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.

Dont understand that at all. A wing on a sprint car substantially cushions impact in crashes. Would much rather crash a winged sprint car than a silver crown car or a midget. Just my opinion and he is intitled to his own everybody is different.

Isn't he talking about a non-winged sprint car that he races full-time?

I found his comments interesting. While it is easy to see the speed and power of the sprint car, I would think that edginess of a midget would cause it to more difficult to drive. The sprint cars do not mix it up as much as a midget does. During the course of a normal midget race, I will have my breath taken away many more times that I will during a sprint car feature. Of course, some may argue that the midget drivers do not respect their fellow driver as much as a sprint car driver and will put thier cars in postions that a sprint car driver never would.

Sprint cars have always been known to be ass skinners. Wingless sprints on a half mile can be pretty hairy I would guess. I've heard drivers say that sprinters have the power to get you out of trouble unlike a lower horsepowered midget, seems like keeping the wheel spin up in a midget helps though. Sprinters are more of a finesse type of driving compared to midgets but there is almost unlimited power which can be potentially dangerous in the wrong hands or under unfortunate circumstances.
All hail our wingless sprint car dare devils

better check on wing drivers that died in last 3 years. Wing cars have a greater speed, that is why I do not like race at Bristol.

Never been a driver and probably not qualified to offer an opinion, but haven't many of the fatal accidents over the years involved the open roll cage and drivers being hit during or immediately after the crash? In that case, I wouldn't think there would be much difference from sprint to midget to silver crown.

He races USAC wingless cars
He may occasionally run with a wing, but I never heard of it...
I think Larson said he's afraid of wingless sprint too, doesn't race them any more, even tho he kicked ass when he did

I'd be scared shitless to race ANY open wheel car, even on an empty track (at full speed.... maybe I could if I started slow & worked my way up?)

Didn't Kyle Larson say the same thing? He said the non wing sprint cars are too edgy for even him.

After his flip at the 4 Crown in the Hoffman 69, and subsequent hit to the cage by another car, that is understandable.

Your biggest fear, as a driver, is in a pack of cars at the start of the race, Or restarts.

I remember that vividly. It's was so nasty, and knowing the Hoffmans 69 history, I could help but think, oh no, not again. Justin is a serious no-nonsense racer and he's been on an upward path since he moved to Indiana at18, in 2009. He can now drive the wheels of his rides in all three divisions and he caped it this year with a big car championship.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

I suspect that wasn't the expected answer.

the Grant kid ran a few winged races @ Atomic, once this year in the TOPP #4, and in 2019 ran Jamie Miller's 6 car a couple times, winning an OVSCA race.

JG is back with the TOPP sprint car team again and looking for a championship. Best of luck to them.
