Turkey Night Open Wheel Classic to end the 2007 Season

http://www.springfieldraceway.com

Springfield Raceway will once again be at the forefront of event promotion with the 1st Annual Turkey Night Open Wheel Classic on Saturday November 24th. This historic event will feature the regions premier open wheel stars in 360 Wing Sprint Cars paying $2,500 to win. Also on the card for the evening will be Modifieds paying $750 to win and Midgets paying $500 to the winner.

"We have looked at the weather over the last 7 years and it has been very mild, Jerry and I figured that if football fans can sit in the stands at Chiefs Stadium in the middle of December, then they can sit for a couple hours watching Sprint Cars race side-by-side on the high banks of Springfield Raceway", said Raceway co-owner Doug Bland. Bland also stated, "we are going to start racing at 4pm and hope to have the checkered flag fly by 8pm in order to get everyone home before the temperatures drop".

Several of the regions top sprint car drivers have contacted the Raceway informing them that they will be in Springfield on November 24th to try and take home their share of the prize money. Former World of Outlaw Champion and IROC Race winner Danny the Dude Lasoski plans on attending the event along with his nephew and Knoxville Raceway track Champion Brian Brown. Pit gates will open at noon on the 24th with the hot laps starting at 3pm and racing starting at 4pm. Grandstand admission will be $15 and pit passes will be $30. For more information call Doug Bland at 704-701-0904 or Jerry Hoffman at 417-673-7426 or click HERE.

Turkey Night Action to heat up the November Air...

The 1st Annual Turkey Open Wheel Classic is shaping up to be one of the biggest open wheel shows in the Region. Springfield Raceway staff has been fielding calls from teams attending from Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Kansas, Indiana, Arkansas and Iowa. "This show has the opportunity to become our biggest show of the year" said Raceway co-owner Doug Bland. "We want to clear the air now and let everyone know the only way the show will be canceled is if it is rained out, we will not cancel due to cold temperatures" stated Bland.

The current weather reports are calling for Saturday's highs at 50 and the low at 34. "As long as you dress for the weather, there is no reason you should be cold even if it gets into the 40's" said Bland. Hot laps for the event will take place at 3:00pm and the first heat race at 4:00. Raceway management expects to have everything completed by 8:00pm so everyone can get home before the temps drop.
