It's official! The #NASCAR @CampingWorld Truck Series will make its debut at Knoxville Raceway on Friday, July 9, 2021 as part of the inaugural "Corn Belt Weekend" which includes @USACNation, @POWRi_WAR non-wing & 410 winged sprints on July 10. Buy tix: bit.ly/2Koe7A9. - Knoxville Twitter.

Just tell the Dunkins to prepare the track as always and let the Trashcar Trucks run as best they can on that track.  Don't ruin the track for the rest of the season.

Interesting. I know one of Dave Abreu's more ambitious plans for Calistoga Speedway when he did all the improvements to the place 100% at his expense was to land a Nascar truck race there at some point in the future.

This made me laugh.

I look forward the Dale Jr's podcast every week.  I turned it on last night to see who the guest was.  It was Darrell.  I changed the channel.

What is the one-lap track record at Knoxville for a pure stock (if they've ever run there before)? Because that's the times you'll be looking at for the trucks, if it's anything like Eldora. Plus for those hoping for a normal Saturday night-prepared surface, good luck with that too. Hard to evision anything but huggy-pole.

Question: Eldora had to spend a bunch of $ on upgrades like an approved heliport out off of turn 3, redesigned/improved safety barries on the inside of the track, etc. Is Knoxville going to put that kind of $ into this?

That should be interesting having the 410 Sprints on the same card.  NASCAR better cut to something else while the 410's are on the track, same with that non-wing series, they put on a great show as well.  Rolling the trucks out after those two are on the track is going to make their Pure Stock like speeds look pretty lame.  IMCA Stock Cars would be a better show.  I might have to go just to see the contrast between turtles and hares.  wink

It looks like the trucks will be on Friday, with the Sprints Saturday. I think there will be a big turnout for the trucks, and some of the NASCAR fans will stay over to help fill seats for the Saturday Sprint Car show. Smart.

I believe it is just the trucks on Friday night and then non-wing and winged 410s on Saturday night. I know they had a support class at Eldora, but it didn't seem like they were going to have one at Knoxville.

So we know the Trucks will be broadcast on television, but who's going to stream the sprint show?

Knoxville will be a better track than Eldora.  Knoxville is a big 1/2 mile and I do not know what Eldora is for sure, but I think it would fit inside Knoxville.  I do not think  Knoxville will have as much dust.

This is absolutely a great thing for Knoxville, NASCAR, and sprint car racing.  Knoxville may be the one track with all of the facilities on the Fairgrounds where a legitimate NASCAR race weekend could be pulled off.  The size of the track and pits could allow for a true pit road configuration allowing "normal" nascar race with live stops, not red flag stops.  Barns can substitute as legitimate garages.  Sure upgrades would be needed to go beyond a one night truck race, but its possible.

If Knoxville and Iowa Speedway could partner together and try to sell NASCAR on a creative race weekend for all 3 series at both tracks. A Wednesday-Sunday doubleheader type event I believe it would be wildly successful.  The way NASCAR is trying everything to add exciting race weekends to all 3 series and get back to its roots, this could be best way to get CUP on dirt.  Sprinkle in a couple nights of WoO at Knoxville with NASCAR fans in town and you could pull thousands of new fans into the sport.

This is a great first step, and with all due respect to Tony and Eldora, what he started is key to motorsports thriving... but Knoxville is best suited to do this and frankly should have been leading this effort.  I know board members who said this would never be done at Knoxville even after Tony did it.  I have to believe Kendra has changed some minds.

Dirtvision covers Knoxville weekly.  That is the main reason that I get Fast Pass for the summer.  Those other guys they show on that channel are just icing on the cake.  wink

I kind of expected a little more positive of a response but I get it were die hard sprint fans. No matter what this is GREAT news for Knoxville and huge exposure all weekend for wingless, winged, and NASCAR and that's awesome. I just love racing and about any kind as well. Of course preference is winged 410s but I've watched the trucks at Eldora and was absolutely entertained as it's not always all about speed. I hear tickets already on sale for a reasonable price.

I'm just kind of going to put this out there...  These post saying how great this is going to be for Knoxville and all of that....  Think to yourself when was the last time you can remember when Nascar did anything that was good for anyone other than Nascar....Is it possible that they are not really there to bring you more fans but instead to run off with some of yours??  I mean, after all... Nascar has so many extra fans these days..... I speak with no inside knowledge or anything but if I was in a meeting and someone said where can we find more fans, I might point at dirt track racing and say, "Lets see if we can get those".  Its just a thought.....
