Why are they there? They're not helping anything. All they do is create problems and wreck cars. Can't believe ALL the drivers don't complain about them

Where are they? Did they jump out on the track in front of cars? Were they at charlotte last night, I don't know because I iddn't watch. Lots of tracks use tractor tires, if the teams don't like them or feel they are unsafe it is their choice not to race there, or if they decide to race, avoid the tractor tires. Those obstacles keep cars from running in the infield which is not the track surface.

Yeah, I think Beezr pretty much shows the problem with your statement...... You need something else to go behind getting rid of the tires to resolve the issue... something like guardrails. Allegators or something... Otherwise...One big short cut and I go from 5th to the lead....... But to the point, it would be nice to designate track from infield without tearing the front end off of a car that dared get to close..... Maybe just 10 more tires per turn would get them close enough together that you couldn't mistakenly run over them like happens pretty often....

I think the berm is the answer. Knoxville uses it and it helps keep drivers out of the infield, but doesn't destroy front ends.

I've seen tracks in the midwest use the tires to prevent a track from getting used up to early in the evening, later in the evening they move the tires towards the infield so there can be multiple grooves during the features. Why should dodging these tires be any different than dodging the outside guardrail? The outside guardrail will hammer a car as much as a tractor tire. Usually the drivers that don't run into things improve their positions on the track.

Just curious. Have you ever driven a sprint car or had any part in owning and paying the bills on one?

Yes I have, I was dumb enough to own and drive a 600 micro about twenty years ago, Believe it or not I still try to avoid stationary objects while driving. Maybe you should try a bridge abutment with your car and then blame it on someone else.

I would like to see the tractor tires go away simply because it seems tracks that have a berm typically have better racing. Also, I have seen on a number of occasions a driver hit a tractor tire bounce back into the racing groove similar to what Brock did and more cars pile in and get damaged. While if you are a person who subscribes to the theory that they were there the who night and do not move that is true to an extent, but it also many times becomes a punishment for a driver/team who gets hit out of nowhere by another car hitting a tire. Granted yes, that could happen with the wall as well but being logical, its another factor that really does not need to be there and it seems more drivers are against them than for them.

Lol. Blame is not the issue. But I'll save my breathe trying to explain. Have a great day.

I've typed a few hundred times over the years: "Tractor tires, destroying cars and killing drivers for decades." There's nothing worse for racers in all of racing than tractor tires.
There is a track near me that has regular pasenger tires about 2/3 buried around the bottom of the corners. It outlines a clear barrier between the track and the not track. No one ever wants to hit the tires and tries to avoid them. If you do, it will upset your car and slow you down for sure, but it typically does not damage the car or injure the driver. There's no shortage of old passenger tires or shovels, so here is a free solution to eliminate tractor tires and the millions of dollars worth of equipment and medical costs they casue each year.

That sounds like the best suggestion to me. If car goes over berm, it will be obvious & they can be penalized, won't destroy cars or drivers

The nice thing about the berm at Knoxville is, no penalty needed. Your penalty will be a loss of about 2-6 positions if you get up on it far enough.

What drivers have been killed by hitting tractor tires?
