I agree 100% with you Stan.  What you're saying is, you would not be going to these races anyways.  So, PPV has done nothing in your case to cost the track money at the gate.  I think it's great that there is an option for someone who does not have great access to races and those that, as they get older, can't make it to the track like they used to.  I still think PPV is going to have a more positive affect on attendance than a negative.  JMO though.  Time will tell.  In the mean time, I'm happy this gives someone like yourself an option when there might not otherwise be one.

I had a chance to go to Knoxville with my son for the USAC Sprints but passed on it this time.  Aside from that there was one local race I try to make every year that I wasn't able to attend.  I used to go at least once, sometimes two and even three nights a weekend when I was on the media list writing and taking pictures.  I'll never go back to attending that many races on my own dime, I'd go broke two weeks into the month and end up divorced after 50 years.  I did a good amount of work on behalf of the tracks so they can't accuse me of having been a freeloader during that time.  I crawled out of the stands and started doing that stuff at 47 so it was a rather short run due to the late start.  I loved that part of racing, being involved like I was helping the local tracks and Sprint Car series in thier first couple of years.  Once that break at the gate dried up there was no way I was going to go more than a few times per season.  Just can't afford that many races and have to admit that if I started hanging around again pretty soon I'd be buying cameras and lenses and I'd be in it up to my neck again.  I have a really hard time sitting in the stands at tracks that I used to shoot at as that was my happy place at the race tracks.

One more thought on streaming races and I'll be on my way for the day.  Last summer I had both Floracing and Dirtvision.  I'm guilty of being a frequent channel surfer so whenever they'd be working the track at one race I'd switch to another.  A few times I did that and I swear this is true, every track I turned to was in the middle of some kind of delay.  I remember thinking to myself that I give it a free pass when that happens because I'm in it for life but most people today don't have the patience for those delays.  It has been said many times that dirt track racing doesn't do a tight TV schedule  very well and this past summer I experienced those kinds of delays from Street Stocks all the way up to and including Sprints and Late Models.  I won't even get into some of the "mouth full of marbles" Late Model announcers trying to come up with their witty sayings.  Those were the worst and they really grated on me to the point that I'd turn the channel even when it was a big race with drivers from our local track.  I think dirt track racing is still kind of off  by itself in it's own corner of the world in some respects.  I think about all the people who own Street Rods and are into cars but even that isn't a guarantee that they'll be Sprint Fans.  Anyways, I'm not trying to change the world or weasel my way under the gate.  Just trying to stay connected with a small niche sport that requires a big sport budget to follow.  wink
