I believe (I could be totally off base here) that Johnson has wanted to end his career with a season racing with the Outalws.
When you go on vacation or do something that you want to do are you throwing away your money? If the guy is living a dream, is he throwing away his money?

To race with the WOO is a dream for many and Wayne and Bill were able to do it.Waynes carreer includes many wins but the top 6 WOO plus Ruetzel and Larson make even getting a top 10 tough.I beieve they both get the show up money and if they can make the feature usually extra $800 or more. The #33 is in the same category and Wayne will be probably the oldest rookie of the year.

Wayne Johnson 15 years ago would have fit nicely into that 7th to 9th spot in points with a couple of wins a year. His successs at the Nationals shows he was a good driver.

I'm a bit off topic (I know that never happens on here), but how old was Danny Wood when we won Rookie of the Year? I know it was a bit of a similar scenario as Wayne Johnson. A really good racer, who didn't actually run the tour full time until he was older. I would guess Wayne Johnson will be the older Rookie of the Year, but not sure.
I'm also pulling for Tim Kaeding to be in the 14 full-time next year, because he would be a kick-ass Rookie on the Year.

Tim is the best sprint car driver other than Larson that has never run the woo tour full time.

Bill Rose is a true Racer. He shows up anywhere and everywhere with wings, non wing, midgets. We have to respect a Racer like this.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Have to agree with dirtface. There both out the knowing that wins on tour just are not going to happen. I'll be curious to see what happens next year

Glad Wayne is still around and I really miss Danny Wood. He was running some ASCS shows up to just a few years ago. Not sure what his current status is or if he might return at some point.

Cool, hoping maybe he'll still make it back down to North Texas at some point.

All I cay say is kudos to them for living the dream while I sit here behind my computer typing about it. It takes all kinds to fill out the field and simply put, not everyone is going to be the champion. Their work and travel is no different than the guys winning all the races and they probably have to do it on much less money. And knowing that unless a minor miracle happens (or we have a repeat of the Eldora tire debacle), their chances of winning are slim and none.

Nobody makes money racing unless you are the driver running for 40-50 percent of your winnings! The owners sure dont make any money

He raced 305s in Oklahoma winning a championship. Seen him in the pits at both Lawton & Devils Bowl last month.
