Was there a rookie of the year award like in the past? i beleive there were at least five first timers didnt here any announcement.

I didn't see any announcement about the award. I have a question that is a little off topic but somewhat related.
Last year Johnny Gibson couldn't say Carson Macedo's name without adding " the leading contender for this years Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the year award" despite Macedo being the ONLY contender. This year I haven't heard Johnny mention that Rookie of the year award at all and there are several rookies.
Who is the leading contender ?
Why is there little or no acknowledgement of the award this year ?
Disclaimer: I haven't watched 100% of all DirtVision broadcasts so I may have missed something. But I do watch most features in their entirity.

Johnny has been saying either "Outlaw rookie contendor" or "a contendor for the 2020 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the year award" for both Wayne Johnson and Mason Daniel. I think you don't hear it much becuase they've only made about half the features this season.
It has also been a pretty close race this season, up until Wayne kinda pulled ahead the past couple weeks, so now we have a leading contender.
