I'm out for this year along with my brother. My cousin and his grandson, who normally go with me, will be there next week. So that's two out of four for us. I'd love to be there, but because of my company's policy on travel I can't risk it.

Didn't plan on going but might see how crowded it looks on prelim nights. I went last night (friday) to 360 nats and sat on backstretch and easily kept away from people.

Planning on attending as well. My buddy that normally goes with me is not able to go but that decision was made last year prior to everything happening, due to having other health concerns along with some spinal issues he is trying to overcome.

Our crew is going as usual. I think if the last 3 nights prooved anything its that the Nationals COULD and in my opinion SHOULD have happened. I know it would have been tough to tell fans, hey, we are refunding or rolling over already reserved tickets and opening up new limited general admission seating to first come first serve, but I still believe that is better than having a year with no winner. I'm sure they would have had to Iron out sponsorship and purse reductions, but It could have been done. Hindsight is 20/20 but we're almost to the middle of 8 nights of racing in 10 days, and I'm stil confused why they didn't think they could run one more night and keep the Nationals format and crown a Nationals Champion.
Frankly, they could still do it! They won't, but they could.

been going Saturday only for IDK maybe ten years. Planning on next saturday. At 7000 fans tops and every other row seating I feel Knoxville does a good job of keeping people distanced. Unlike many I have watched on PPV.

I didn't even state my intentions when I started the thread-----I will be going as well. We had a group of 6, but 4 backed out due to covid. Then, they cancelled fall football at our high school, so now our sons get to go as well. So, our original group of 6 became a different group of 4.
To reply to a couple of comments-----does anyone think they may have had the Nationals go on with a reduced crowd and reduced purse if it were NOT the 60th? I feel like they wanted it to be a big event and they did not want to go through with it if it were going to be a reduced show? Would we be having an altered Nationals if it were the 59th or 61st? (Not that I really have a strong opinion one way or the other, but someone made a good point that they still could have easily had the extra day and crowned a champ)
Also, to reply to Points, I was at the Outlaw show in June. You are correct in the great job Knoxville does with the seating. For the Outlaw show, they actually reached their 37% capacity (that was the magic number that night) and opened the back stretch. We stayed in the front stretch that night. They policed every other row. The groups stayed spaced out. At no point were you ever in close contact with someone for more than 30 seconds----which, by most experts accounts, puts you at very, very low risk of contracting an airborne virus. When I went to get a beer, I walked up (no line) got my beer, and threw exact change. Same for concessions----maybe waited behind 2 people all night in line for concessions. As soon as the checkered flew, I was down the steps and into the restroom and never stood in line there either. I don't think a mask is even remotely necessary in the stands, but I won't judge anyone wearing one. Honestly, I was never in a position at the Outlaw show in June to feel like a mask was needed anywhere I was. All concessions covered in plexiglass and as I said, at the same capacity that night as what the Nationals are allowing, I was never in close proximity for anyone except for a brief encounter.
I'm not even the least bit concerned about dying from covid. However, I've had the flu before, and I'm not in any hurry to go through anything like that again if I can help it----because I was down for almost 2 weeks. So, I'm going to enjoy the races and take a few extra precautions along the way.
Hoping to see the "full" 7000 crowd.

Have only missed Nationals once since 1983, but won't be going this year. It is nice that there is a consolation for the fans that are committed to go, but looks like just another WoO show at Knoxville from where i'm sitting. (In front of the TV).

Not coming from Texas.
Part of our annual Nationals trip was visiting both sides of family in Iowa, and that is not going to happen for several reasons.
I floated the idea of just me going to Knoxville alone, but after some thought I decided to pass because it is just not the Nationals without that atmosphere.
Honestly, I probably have much better odds getting Covid at my crowded local Lowes than at Knoxville.

I won't be going. Too big of a trip to make solo which would require me to foot the entire bill and sit alone on metal bleachers. Benches raise hell with my upper back and cobbled together titanium reinforced neck. The recliner with a head rest is much more comfortable than six hundred miles round trip.
Between the two PPV channels I think I've got everything covered. Roaming around during the day at the Nationals are some if my fondest racing memories. My son and I did it two years in 1999 and 2000 but divorce and kids side tracked our plan to make it an annual trip. In my 40's and 50's racing trips with my son doubled as excuses to consume large amounts of beer. Since quitting drinking and PPV bringing the action to my family room it makes more sense to.watch from home.
As far as attending Knoxville I can see after a couple months that they are taking the situation seriously and keeping the fans spread out. A person would be more likely to be exposed traveling to and from Knoxville than at the track. I had to sit back and see how everything shook out with all the dire warnings but it appears that outdoor events that are distanced are not a high risk. With all the conflicting information I had to trust but verify.
This should be an exciting week of racing wherever we are watching from.

Originally from Memphis myself. Hope you enjoy it. It will be very painful for me to watch it on DV. Even worse, I'll be able to see my cousin and his grandson on the bottom row of the back straight and know I should be there with them. I had originally planned to go, but I was told by my company that if I or anyone who travels with me develop any symptoms during the trip or when we return I have to take two weeks of vacation to quarantine. That would be on top of the vacation I would be taking for the trip itself. I just can't risk that happening. Hope all of you guys who get to go enjoy it immensely!

First time not going since '93. Really tempted to go and thought we'd be ok at the races, but the thought of 7,000 people hitting the bars, restaurants, stores, and mixing it up camping and tailgating for 10 days sounds like a recipe for disaster. So decided we'd play it safe and sit it out this year. Like was posted earlier, if 20 people come into Knoxville with it, how many will go home with it?
As far as the 60th, I don't see where it would make that big of a difference. In Knoxville, every year is a big year! Personally, I don't see why they didn't just go ahead with the Nationals. They're racing 6 days anyway, why not add one more. With 7,000 people at $40 a pop, they could still have a nice payout.
Also, does anyone know what Knoxville's or Iowa's regulations are on bars, restaurants, and shopping? Are they required to stay 6' apart, wear masks, limit numbers of customers, etc.? Just curious . . . (When I think of Dingus and social distancing, well, you know . . .)

There are some fairly strict (on paper) restrictions for bars/restaurants that involve a three-strike process but are going to be difficult to enforce and probably won't be most places. Social distancing between groups or individuals. Don't see how it will work at Dingus TBH.
Going to be there this year, but not sure how normal it will be - might just be the races and that's it.

For purely selfish reasons, I am very glad they are not having "the Nationals" especially the 60th running. It wouldn't be the same without all the people. I hope next year it comes back bigger than ever.

Our group opted not to go (3 adults and 2 kids). Using the tickets for next year. We were lucky enough to get some racing in at Husets and will again in September. I was fortunate to make it to Knoxville for a regular Saturday show this year. It has left a hole in our heart for sure this year, but we will be back even bigger in 2021 I hope by adding days onto our trip to include the 360 Nationals or the Front row and Cap challenges. The thing that bothers me the most right now is in South Dakota we had a packed Husets over a week ago, we have the rally going on, and Trump was out to Mt Rushmore in early July. I have heard little about Covid outbreaks from these events......I guess TBD on the Sturgis deal, but all indications are it will go on as normal and people will be just fine.
