Well Larsen had a flat right rear tire on the 2nd lap of his heat race. Then he crashed badly into the 1st turn wall on the restart. End of his night since he evidently did not have a backup car.
All appearances was there was a sell out crowd at Huset’s last night. No social distancing was possible in the grandstands.

Watched on Floracing and Todd Quirings accusition of Hussets was the best possible result after a few years of drahma. The track improvements plus the support of fans and racers was not in vain.Hussets wall took out several cars with Larsons being the most dramatic. I hated to see his streak end in that fashion. Great short track racing and probably the story of the year of this storied facility is that this track has been saved to provide top racing to the midwest. Not may people could afford or have the management skills to take on this project.

That is a great track. Now I see what everyone was raving about these past few years. I'm happy for all of you guys that sufferred through it's recent history.
Have to ask the hurr-durr question of the day...what are the numbers behind the turns for? I was switching between this race and ISW finale. They probably explained it and I missed it.
Bummer for Larson. I bet there was a mad scramble in the pits for those wing panels.

Those are numbered signs along the back stretch and into the turns are currently unsold advertising signs.

Weren't those put up as part of Chucks oh so brilliant "Win the Race, Win the Track" Promotion? Thought he put the numbers up around the track and would put the pictures of the cars as whoever paid the big, what was it six figured entry fee? I think 2 or 3 teams decided to enter but nothing came out of it and of course, the race never happened.

Really entertaining show. Only complaint (and it is very minor) is the start times/pace of shows Quiring seems to run. Last night was no exception, don't believe the 410s hot-lapped until about 7:45 p.m. and it took over an hour to hotlap and qualify. Then the show just dragged - way too much down time. 11:45 p.m. is far too late for a Sunday night show to end IMO.
Glad to see the track is back and it looks like a fantastic complex and I don't want to seem overly critical, just feel it would benefit everyone involved if they could keep it moving at a little better pace.

I don't think it's a minor complaint. Obviously the good far outweighed the bad last night, but casual fans don't want to be at a race track at 11:45 on a Sunday night.
Also, Chuck gets a bad rap and deservedly so, but he took a dump (which Husets was previously) and turned it into a top 5-10 dirt track facility.

No. They were put up to show how many advertising spots you would be able to sell for revenue if you bought it.

Was a GREAT night of racing thanks again Tod for buying this track!
Agreed the time management wasn't great but we have all been to enough races to know that opening night at a dirt track often goes later then we want.
Agreed Brennan for all of his flaws did turn Husets from a super shithole to a showplace, I don't think the Rubins spent a nickel on the place in 25 years.
Would have really liked to see Larsen roll out the backup car and start last in the B that would've been hellacious racing!
Enjoyed when street stock feature winner Corey Yeigh in his victory lane interview said "Welcome back" to the crowd and the people went nuts!
General question, do all tracks and sanction bodies run the C,B, consolation races, etc BEFORE intermission? Seems like you would want to run it after to give a guy in Larsen's situation extra time to make repairs or get another car ready to go?
Also thanks to the fans for making last night's race a huge success, Tod and Doug had to be very happy with that turnout!
Thumbs up: Great racing on a Sunday night at Husets!
Thumbs down: Gotta wait until September to have this kind of fun again!
