Port is probably the best prepared track in the East consistantly. Lincoln gets a lot of credit for track prep but has a lot of nights when it's follow the leader. Comparing Port to the Grove and that's not even close.
And as you said, the NY tracks are just plain bad for sprint cars.

Now that is the funniest thing anyone has ever said. The slip and slide is not sprint racing. Port has a great facility.....the track surface gets a F- for the first night of the Weikert. I bet it is hard black and dry before the heats are over. That is the way the Port o potty rolls. Let the drivers get a grip on the track. Horrible is what that track surface is over there night in and night out. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Enjoy the ice skating/slip and slide tonight. I will be watching my grass grow....more excitement. Razor Steve needs FIRED!!!
It is cloudy now so......they might have a chance but I am very much a doubting Thomas! I bet it is a very slick track tonight....all night long!
The Grove had there track perfect all night long....the best racing happened in the feature. It was 100% better than Port last night.
I guess some people think the heats pay a lot so that should be the best racing of the night...........jus saying
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

I had fun at Port last night and expect to have some more tonight.
I guess you'll have fun running your blood pressure up to 200/140 and telling us all about it. The exclamation point key on your keyboard must be on it's last leg, or worn clear down to the nub by now. Take a breath and calm down.

I both agree and disagree with Strawser.
I disagree to the fact that there was great racing throughout the field in the feature. Watching Larson work his way to the lead then watching Macri work his way into a podium finish and watching other battles was very enjoyable.
I agree to the fact that there needs to be some more moisture in turns one and two. Turns three and four seemed to have plenty of moisture.
I like to see them throwing sliders and ripping the top. But last night, that unwatered strip really upset a lot of cars making some of them smack the fence with quite a bit of force. I feel that there should not be any unwatered sections on any race track. I feel that they could have more moisture near the top so there is something for the drivers to get a hold of. I do not need to see 15 second lap times. I like the racing that a slick track produces. Last week the Halligan and Cisney battle was great!
I'm looking forward to tonights racing.

Yeah how could anyone possibly enjoy watching the best in the business right now actually work his ass off from the 3rd row, running inches from the wall and battling back and forth, tooth and nail to pass Wagner, Dewease, Dietrich, Marks, Reutzel. Macri putting on a show coming on at the end, Zearfoss from the rear to 6th, side by side back and forth through the field, geez such a terrible race. I guess you wouldn't be able to see that if you're only watching lap times. Port Royal week in and week out is easily the best racing of any 1/2 mile track in the country and it's not even close. More action than most bullrings. They know how to prepare it wide, multi-lane and racy. That's far more important than lap times. Even the 305's put on a good show.

Port has a beutiful facility. Maybe the best in the country. UNCLE SAM WOULD BE PROUD.. Track however is very poorly prepared. Rubber in heats, "come on now!" Four trips to the Port have all been the same.Racing isn't all that bad if you like drivers banging off the wall to get a launch down the back stretch. I only hit Port if Selinsgrove isn't running. After a trip to the Grove Friday it's back to Selinsgrove on the 25th. Their track prep is superior to most of the area tracks. Selinsgrove is off Aug 1 and 8. No Port for me. A trip to BAPS on the 1st and a trip to Clyde Martin Memorial to watch the National Midget tour are on the schedule. Port again ???????? Probably September.

Yep, thoroughly entertaining
Strawser hates the place so much that nothing could satisfy him

Port is not anywhere close to the "worst prepared track in the East." I grew up as a huge dirt Modified fan. Port's surface blows away just about every dusty, slippery ice rink in New York that has not seen a water truck in decades. Surfaces are so univerally bad in New York state that driver Tim Fuller referred to the tracks as "New York shitholes" a number of years back while he was on the WoO Late Model tour.
USAC driver Robert Ballou referred to Weedsport as a "shithole" a couple years ago on Twitter because the surface was so icy,

Sad but true. Middletown & Lebanon Valley are far closer drives for me, but every time I've been at either one, racing was awful, almost ZERO passing
I prefer driving 5 hrs. to Central Pa. than 2 hrs. to those tracks

I checked: Larson: From 7th to Win. Macri:11th to 3rd, Zearfoss: 21st to 7th, Cisney: 26 to 10th
Can't beat that..
My only complaint is that on PPV, you have to watch what cameraman focuses on, can't follow battles all over the track. Plus announcer & cameraman should coordinate better. Announcer is talking about one battle & camera is often somewhere else
It must have been great live.....

Enjoy not coming to Port, we'll enjoy not having ya. Like the hipsters say " this isn't an airport, no need to announce your departure".
