Steve Kinser won a $20k to win show at Eldora as part of Ohio Speedweeks, 37 years ago. The equivalent of $50k To win today. It's crazy they still run for $5k to win in a lot of these shows.

Good point, & I'm guessing expenses went up faster than inflation too

I'm too lazy to dig thru endless old piles of Speed sports for the answer but why was Steve running Ohio Speedweek that year instead of WoO shows? A bunch of rainouts?

What was the entire purse for that event? Back then they were known for having real heavy top pay, and peanuts for everyone else. I am also willing to bet the cost to put on a show at a track has gone up drastically as well.
