Carolina Speedway, NC – For years, Carolina Speedway has always been that Friday night constant that Pete and the United Sprint Car Series needed to bring in the extra car count for a huge weekend event.

You can honestly go so far as saying without Carolina Speedway and the USCS, there would be no sprint cars in the Southeast.

There might not even be a World Finals at Charlotte because we would have nothing to base bringing such a massive event to the area.

For years and years and almost twenty years, Carolina Speedway has committed themselves toward helping the red-headed stepchild of Southeastern dirt track racing… Sprint cars.

This Friday night, Carolina Speedway will again host the Carolina Sprint Tour, a regional 305 RaceSaver series.

Six years ago, the Speedway saw four RaceSavers ride around for twenty laps as fans headed toward the gate. One year ago, fans and great friends experienced one of the greatest races of the season as Jacob McLain and Lance Moss destroyed wings and bumpers till the end.

This weekend, the Carolina Sprint Tour is actually bringing in an even stellar group of racers. After hot laps and heats at Fayetteville a week ago, the competition is so tight, a pill draw means everything.

Racing and winning at Carolina Speedway is a huge deal. It truly is the Williams Grove of the Southeast. On any given Friday night, whoever comes out the victor carries the torch through the weekend.

My statement above wasn’t for shock value. I truly believe if it wasn’t for the commitment Carolina Speedway made toward sprint car racing, Charlotte wouldn’t be hosting the biggest dirt track weekend in the world come November.

This weekend, I can’t wait to race where my grandfather once flagged. Next month, I can’t wait to do it again…

Thanks Carolina Speedway for always believing in sprint car racing. I appreciate it.

The Mule...
