Does anyone know of anyone that offers a repir kit for replacing/repairing the mounting inserts for tail tanks? or what has everyone been doing to repair them?  I've got two tanks that need three inserts between them, hate to just throw em out and buy new when nothing else is wrong with them..  THANKS!  Brian

I don't know of a kit per se, but you make your own with a little ingenuity.  I don't have much of that but I've seen them fixed by others.  The current way of mounting tanks leaves a lot to be desired.  Any kind of a crash usually pulls at least one of them out.  I suppose manufacturers don't want them to be too strong because they wouldn't sell as many.  But its something that does need improving.  A set of straps over them would help I'd think.

Brian, one of my tanks has been repaired but not by me.  It has a plate that was bolted to the shell over the old torn out mount hole and has I'm guessing a drilled out hole and a nut welded on the inside that fits in the old hole.  Works great but guessing that kind of repair has to be done without the bladder out so you can get in there to put the nuts on the bolts holding the plate on. Would be nice if you could just rivet that plate on the shell and not have to pull the bladder.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking also,, I'm thinking that if someone was creative, they could probably make some nice $$$ off of a repair kit,,, unfortunately, that's not me so I thought I would ask and see if there was anything out there or what everyone else was doing... Thanks guys!

If tou watch alot of sprintcar races you will see tanks come clear off of car.  A tank in grandstands would not be  good.  WOO has talked about new rules to add two more attachment points, but has never done it..  It would be easy to do.  They will probably make the rule after someone gets hit by a tank.

WoO already has too many rules for things that"might" happen! Just like NHRA too many rules are made to sell and out-date parts. Enough straps on a sprint car to make a BDSM freak happy

With legal system the way it is today, safety of fans is very important.  Adding 2 more attachments to feul tank is not the same as all these nascar rules.  If you or your family got hit by a tank you would be at some sleeze ball lawyers office the next day.
