Wonder what effect the coronavirus outbreak will have on Motorsport events since they have been announcing new cases of the virus in California and Oregon. There have been numerous nonracing events events already cancelled in California. Any thoughts?

Haven't you heard? There is no racing any longer. This is the end of life as we know it. Personally I think it's the beginning of the zombie apocalyse. My only problem is acting like I'm not excited about it...

It's all going to depend on how well this thing spreads after the country heats up. If it fizzles like most do, it won't affect the summer time racing. If it doesn't, expect no races or empty stands in areas across the country.
The good news for Nascar: They have been prepared for empty stands so it shouldn't affect them much

Wash your hands, cover your mouth when coughing & sneezing, and if your sick stay home. If your boss doesn't believe you, go into work sneeze on them and tell them we'll find out in a couple days if you're sick or not.
Racing wise, I don't think you will see anymore of an impact than we did with H1N1, swine flu, or regular flu in the past

The problem with this bug along with all the other ones Nick mentions is the media hype. In another week or two they'll be talking about something else.

It's affecting people that are in poor health. The media is so full of shit, they never tell facts. They tell you what gives them ratings.

It has cancelled all Sprint Car races and R&D time at all tracks in China, North Korea, South Korea, and Japan.

I have seen plenty of fans with goggles and dust masks. race fans have been protecting themselves way before all this virus stuff.

So all of those people at the Chili Bowl have been protecting themselves from viruses? I would have never guessed that. Of course, I'm not the brightest bulb on the old Christmas tree to begin with...

Didn't the media tell us that China built a 400 room hospital overnight? I'm thinking that is either false or inside info preparedness.
Been told by the "underground" media, which is usually more reliable than the sources reporting for money, all these major bugs come from the same little jungle town in China. If that little community hasn't been wiped out I wonder if that is because everyone working in the bug lab is protected. Its all a money grab.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Every year between 30 & 40 million people in the U.S. alone get the flu resulting 20,000 & 40,000 deaths yet we still go on with our lives. Now we are going to stop functioning because what 50 or 60 cases of this with one death so far. Can you imagine the money that savvy investers will make from the fools selling off investments because of this. And people wonder why the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. I sure wish that I was in position to put a boat load of money into stocks and commotities right now.

The difference is in the percentages. The common flu kills approximately .1% of those it infects. This thing to date has killed approximately 2% of its victims with from what I've seen at least a 15% mortality rate for those above the age of 80. Say this thing actually spreads as we fear and it infects 4 million people that's 80,000 dead.
Your a damned fool if you just brush it off because this can be real serious if it breaks out
