First time to cowtoun, i really enjoyed the races. Just hate the ride back home to Moore. Though it was really weird that there is another track across the parking lot. Ted

Even though a bunch of the hitters didn't show up, I thought it was still a great WARM night of good close racing.

How about that dounut by Sam. He couldn't have been but a few feet from that pole, and stayed on it.

The other track is Kenedale Speedway Park and it is an IMCA sanctioned track. During the regular season you can sit in the stands at Cowtown and watch the races over there.

If you go to www.track-announcer.com, you will be able to see a satelite or birds eye view of the three tracks. These photo's was taken at the time the Kennedale Speedway Park dirt oval was being built in 1999. It is truely a unusual site.

Cowtown Speedway enjoys a car count of around 120-130 cars each saturday night. The Kennedale Speedway Park track usually had arounf 175-185 cars for much of the year. And both are always done before midnight. KSP is planning on building on even more to it's massive steel grandstands by adding a elevator and suites to compliment it's modern restrooms and other accomodations. Most out of towners mistaken it's huge pit grandstands as being the main grandstands. KSP is STRONGLY concidering on hosting some ASCS and SUPR Late Model shows in 2008. MAYBE even a few other series. The IMCA Late Models will be added as a weekly show in 2008. The track is very wide and will accomodate the Late Models easily.

Cowtown Speedway's Bo Rawdon and the track promoter at Kennedale Speedway Park ( Richard Snider ) have both won the Lanny Edwards Texas Track Promoter of the Year award in the recent years.

Two great tracks with outstanding racing. Both feature the best drivers in there type of racing. RUMOR has it that Troy Taylor and a few others will be racing KSP next year. I can not say if this is true but we will see. I expect Troy to do well if he makes the jump over the fense.

The drag strip is not bad either if this is your taste for racing. All in all. It is a Racer's haven and the situation was covered by Sleepy Gomez in the May, 2000 edition of Stock Car Racing magazine.

WTF!?!?!? There is a Lanny Edwards Promoter of the Year Award? Isn't that an ironic contradiction of terms..............They must have not started that award recently....

Lol! Yep, there is a Lanny Edwards Promoter of the Year award.

Lanny is one of the most hard ruling promoters I have ever worked for. He is not always easy to understand or to deal with for some folks. But despite this. I personally seem to eventually understand later that his thoughts and reasons are of being valid and correct. He has done some VERY big things in dirt track racing in Texas and Oklahoma. This is why he has won all those promoter awards and Hall of Fame recognitions that he has been given from people who are in the know of the racing business. He has a trophy case of his own that some drivers would love to have.

Lanny always has a well run show and good racing. In my visit's to State Fair Speedway, I always seemed to enjoy myself and managed to see a good show there. The Chilie Bowl, well nothing needs to be said about this famous event. It speaks for it's self. Devil's Bowl Speedway has some good racing and is a nice facility. Some say it is the nicest track in Texas. I beg to differ. I would vote on the track in Houston or Kennedale Speedway Park next door to Cowtown Speedway.

Cowtown Speedway had a outstanding night in every sence. I look forward to seeing this track grow and to continue to bring good racing to it's fans. Glad that everyone seemed to have a good time last weekend.

Trip was just great , Ice Tea was just great, Had a great time , Sprint cars were great , Modifieds put on a great show , SIMS Mods were great, Food was great, Popcorn was great, Weather was great , Rode down with some great people, did I mentioned I had a great time. Any other issues I reserve the right to let them be.

I know where the little fat man got his start , can remember him coming in the ol Lawton Iron and Metal off of Railroad St.and Lee Blvd. and drinking coffee with James Yarmuk which owned the place , he was still learning the ropes of race car promotion then and was a younger Lanny and his trophy case was pretty small back then , that might have been around 71 or 72.

The Lanny Edwards award is actually named after him because he was the very first recipient of the award. Texas Motor Speedway are the one's that give the award away each year, not Lanny.
