Unfortunately I saw that John just lost his battle with cancer. Was able to meet him during 4crown a number years ago with him helping his son. Very nice guy & felt he was an underrated talent. Was able to have consistent runs for Petty Enterprises which was not an easy feat during that period. Condolences to his family

Open wheel dirt, Indy IRL, Nascar, and even top fuel dragsters, he was successful in all. His greatest success was a gentleman and a truly nice individual.

Ah Man, John now too? I remember watching him one year at Ascot driving one of the Gardner cars. John was a gasser. R.I.P.

Bummer. I was at Milwaukee for the Andretti, Andretti, Andretti podium. Sprints, Le Mans, Indy, Top Fuel, Stockers. He did it all. Does anybody have any records from his Ascot Park days?

I remember that season he spent at Ascot. The previous year he had driven a sports car on the IMSA circuit, I believe. The man was willing to wheel anything and was good at it, but it seemed like he never lost his passion for dirt track racing.
Very sorry to hear that he’s gone.

Fond memories when I was really young of my dad talking to him at the U.S. Nationals. Made my dad's day as well as many others I'm sure throughout his racing career. I still have the card he signed and will pass it down to my boys. Prayers to the Andretti family!
