FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - CONTACT: TOM SCHMEH, 641-842-6176

BOBBY UNSER & AL UNSER, SR., TO VISIT NATIONAL SPRINT CAR

MUSEUM ON SUNDAY, COURTESY OF GOVERNOR BILL RICHARDSON

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (November 9, 2007) - Two of America's greatest race car drivers, brothers Bobby Unser and Al Unser, Sr., of Albuquerque, will be visiting the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum in Knoxville for the first time ever this Sunday, courtesy of New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and his 2008 "Richardson for President" campaign. The free and open-to-the-public 'Meet & Greet' session will start at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, on the second floor of the museum. Richardson's campaign staff has indicated that there will be opportunities for photographs of, and autographs from, the two former winners of the Indianapolis 500.

According to museum executive director Thomas J. Schmeh, "We were very pleased yesterday when we received the call that Governor Richardson was interested in bringing Bobby and Al to our museum as part of their appearances in Iowa this weekend. In fact, Bobby was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 1997, but unfortunately he was unable to be here for that special occasion. We look forward to showing them our sprint car museum, and our suites overlooking the legendary Knoxville Raceway half-mile dirt track. And we sincerely thank Governor Bill Richardson for giving motorsports fans in Iowa this opportunity to mix and mingle with Indy 500 winners Bobby Unser (1968, '75, '81) and Al Unser, Sr. (1970, '71, '78, '87)."

Those wishing to RSVP are urged to call the Iowa "Richardson for President" headquarters at 515-243-9502 or e-mail [email protected].

Those boys have given absolutely nothing back to the sport. Oh they might show up once in a while to wave at a crowd like when Hollywood hills speedway opened up but otherwise even in their home state there absence has been duly noted.

Hey Duano, looks like a good time for you to meet some good Democrates and learn about Gov Richardson and his platform. He is without doubt the best of the 4 frontrunners, and is a big race fan. A.B.H., Anyone But Hillary. BUT, If she wins, she will have the Gay  Ole  Party  and GB to thank. See ya at the Chilibowl!

I was impressed with them when they came to Wichita Falls. They're just two ordinary guys who happen to have seven 500 wins between them. Up close it's almost as if they don't know what all the fuss is about.

Bobby is a good guy and Al is a big headed jerk. Little Al might have been humbled some but he's his fathers son, that's for sure. What I said stands, nothing.

I respect what they have done as a family at the peak and the brickyard and there was a time when I thought differently about them, except little Al, the cry baby.,nothing has changed there.

I agree, Bobby and Robby are both nice guys. Robby did a great job of keeping the families winning tradition on the peak alive for some time. You guys have never heard me say one personal word about a driver or drivers until now.
