Sweet might be saved by the rain until Charlotte. They should run tomorrow afternoon and keep the qualifying results from today. Seems fair.

Guess they didnt listen to Ryan Taylor he said on twitter if they move start time make sure you get it all in.
Looking at Radar and Forcast a 10 or11 START TIME WAS ABOUT THEIR ONLY CHANCE.
Good break for Sweet but as usual the ones that suffer the most THE FANS.

I am not there, so I don't have a horse in the race. However, if there is no curfew, and the rain is supposed to completely stop, I would always try to get the show in. The fans are loyal and 90% will stick it out. If you can't start til 10:00, start at 10:00!! I was in Knoxville in June for the Oultaws and we had heavy rain at around 6:30 or 7:00. I believe they started the entire show after 9:00. Who cares? Crowd was huge and we all wanted to see some racing.
I say let em fly

Was there. Radar did not look good and folks were leaving. Ryan Taylor not even racing there so not sure his comments valid for those there. not sure starting even earlier would have been good. Folks travel some quite a few hours to get there. Folks get bored just hanging out. Kids get restless. While I appreciate them trying the forecast kept getting worse. At least they called before qualifying was complete so you can get a refund.

Why did the WoO Twitter feed originally sat there would be 6 heats with 49 cars? Then later it said there would be 4 heats. If a competitor scratches before the time trials does the WoO consider it one less car?

Started with 49 cars which is minimum needed for 6 heats. Shearer blew up in hot laps and scratched. Since qualifying had not started car count was now 48 thus dropping heats back to 4. Weather was unfortunate. Forecast had been for rain to move in late Sat but some could be hit with showers early due being clipped early by the eastern edge of the storm. That's exactly what happened. Was misting for a chunk of time trials but shortly after it picked up just a bit. The radar looked to show an opening but it wasn't long enough to run the track in and get the rest of the show in. Sunday looks to be a washout. Heard there was talk about next Sat since that is an open weekend but long range forecast is for lower temps so that was nixxed. Track was going to be very different than Fri night so it would have been interesting to see that play out.

If 49 cars = 6 heats, why does 48 cars =4 heats and not 5?

Under Oulaw format 5 heats not an option. 2 groups of time trials with 2 or 3 heats per group. With split qualifying heats will be an even number.
