I have the 1976 & 1977 programs (Got them on ebay). The 1977 doesn't have a 1976 recap, but the 1976 has handwritten qualifying times for Wednseday & Thursday. I might possibly have the NSSN issues from those years, I have to dig a little for those, though. Hope this help a little.

The story of 1976 was Rick Ferkel. Rick won the "B" main, but in the last laps he lost a cylinder. While he was being interviewed on the front straight, his crew removed the rocker arm, pushrod, and plug from the bad cylinder. He started last in the "A" main and the show was on. He was passing car after car after car. There was no doubt who the fastest car on the track was by the fans or the announcer at the time Chris Economaki. Ferk (as some of us call him) got up to around 5th or 6th and his rear end broke, so he left the race to a standing ovation of screaming fans. One of the greatest races I've ever watched. When it was over, Economaki announced Eddie Levitt as the winner, but added "did you see Ferkel." Thanks Rick, you were one of the best.
