In this month's SpeedSport, Sheheen had a little four paragraph story on his home page with the announcement. Didn't say who would build it other than Tayota will have the block built but all the other pieces/parts (heads, pistons, rods, etc) would be purchased from current suppliers of racing engine parts. AND, they expect to have it completed and on the track before the end of next summer. Does say that Indianapolis-based Speedway Engine Development will be heavily involved in the build.
This motor will obviously have nothing in common with any Tayota engine as is true of the new, long term project of Fords. Unlike of course the 'normal" sprint car engine 99% run which is based on the 50+ year old Chevy small block but with much stronger internal parts to be able to last a grueling high RPM sprint car race.

Toyota now realizes that midget drivers are not good enough to stay in NASCAR. They are getting into sprint car racing. Bell & Larson are sprint car drivers who dabbled in midgets. With the emegence of Gio & Zeb running sprints next year the high dollar midget rent a rides will be a thing of the past.

I would assume Rick Long at Speedway Engine Development will spearhead that effort.
He has the sole contract on the Toyota midget engines, so it makes sense that he will do the 410.

Maybe Toyota can show Ford how to do it. Of course Ford has been lagging behind Toyota in the car industry for a long time, so maybe it's not capable of keeping up....

If you follow Sprint Car Racing, you'd know that Tony Stewart won in the 410 Ford a couple of weeks ago...

If you follow sprint car racing, I think Tony would like the Ford to be competitive against the All-Stars, Outlaws and Posse.

Agree. Many of my friends simply won't accept this and maintain their Dodge, Chevy or Ford is every bit the quality of a Toyota. Wrong. There is nowhere near the quality gap there was 20 years ago, but from the mid-80's through the late 2000's, Toyota's quality was head and shoulders above the big 3 of America. Now, you can really buy about anything and it is going to at least be reliable for the most part. It wasn't that way 20 years ago.
I've owned Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Buick, Mitsubishi, Honda, Volkswagon, and Toyota. (and by the way, I make sure my Toyota vehicles come from American plants) I still have a 3/4 ton Chevy truck, though strangely enough I prefer Fords when it comes to trucks. (got too good of a deal and truck to pass it up) I also own 2 Toyotas. After years of owning Toyota cars, took a chance on a Buick car for my wife which is supposed to be one of GM's quality vehicles-----problem after problem with a car with less than 80,000 miles on it. Traded it off on another Toyota. 93,000 miles and nothing.........and I mean nothing but tires, oil changes, and gas. 7 years maintenance free. 165,000 miles on the Camry my daughter drives and it has not had a single ounce of work done to it. Tires, brake pads, change oil, fill it with gas.
The big three have closed the gap and everyone has Toyota, Honda, and Subaru to thank for it. They set the standards decades ago and the U.S. had to follow suit.
I don't know how this tranfers to sprint car engines, but I just wanted to comment on your assessment.

Tim Shaffer did ok on Friday the 13th at Atomic in Tony's car... Started 6th and ended up 3rd in the A main...
