Heard a few rumors quote RUMORS on Saturdat at Port that Shawn Brouse and maybe even Steve Oniel were taking over Selinsgrove next yeat also heard they told Pro Stocks they would not be back next year .I know they have struggled getting the 360 program going but dont know what other direction they could go.

It's my home track but I haven't heard anything. I know Heffner and Kreitzer's lease is up after this season but I haven't heard whether or not they were renewing it. I could see Brouse being interested since he was the Selinsgrove media guy for many years but O'Neal? If he was involved I don't think they'd run on Saturdays against Port. I don't know why they aren't getting much support from the 360 drivers but it's hard to put on a good show with only 14 cars in your top division. IMO the track needs to be made a little smaller to attract more 360/358 teams and that would be pretty easy to do now with the pits outside.
Pro stocks only drawing 5-10 cars so it's no surprise they are getting dropped. The bigger SLM shows are about the only thing they have going right now. I hate to say it but I think the track is on life support. The weekly crowds are so-so, as is the racing. Make the track smaller, wider and higher banked - draw more cars plus closer, better racing. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Pro stock drivers meeting last week and they are definitely gone next year. Look for more 305 races and probably some kind of rotation with limited lates. 360s may be gone as well.

Some parts of the country call them Super Late Models......just like those that run the Lucas Oil Late Model Series or the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.....all the same.

OK, thanks. In our area they just call them Late Models. I suppose some areas could start calling the SDLM (Super Duper Late Models) and somebody would have to top that with ESDLM (Extreme!!.....)

As much as I love the spectacle that is Selinsgrove Speedway for 410s, I think the answer lies with shortening the track. I would think a weekly 358/360 challenge division at a 3/8 mile Selinsgrove Speedway would be a hit, along with Limiteds and 305s or something else. The key here is having a lower ticket price than the alternatives. $10 would be great and you would see an increase in the amount of fans. There are tracks all over the country that are successful in charging signicantly less to get in, and having tons of fans. It allows drivers to acquire sponsorshup much more easily (due to huge crowds to display their cars in front of) and it allows the track to acquire sponsorship, and sell more concessions. Check out Wiscasset Speedway in Maine. $5 general admission and they run Super Late Models weekly which is the top class of Asphalt Racing in the area. Surrounded by tracks charging $12 to get in an Wiscasset is packed weekly.

With the car counts for regular shows down on Friday nights. Does anyone think a rotation of WG, BAPS, and Selinsgrove would be more benifical for the 410's? The Groves could run the SLM with the 410's and BAPS could run 358/360. For the Outlaws instead of 2 days at one track hit two of them in May and July. Keeping the National Open a 2 day show. All-Stars you could look at a 3 day 3 track show...Just ramdon thoughts not trying to start a war over diffrent tracks.

In PA we generally refer to SLM (super) and LLM (limited) and they are two distinct classes and several tracks including Selinsgrove run both at various times. Sometimes both classes run on the same night. The super class is your Lucas Oil/WoOLM class. The LLM is a 358 late model class. The Mason Dixon late models is a regional touring series for that class. Most guys run one class or the other but there are a handful that run both. I wish Williams Grove ran more late model shows than they do especially for the SLM. Would love to see Lucas Oil get more than one show at Port Royal for the area. As far as Selinsgrove, I'm hearing the current promotional team will be back but I've not heard anything regarding what classes they will run. One way or another I think somebody has to a figure out a way for the 358/360's to run together. I know they are talking about some potential rule changes for the 358's for next year so maybe that is the first step. Possibly with the Selingsgrove/Lincoln promotional staff connection this is the start of that process. Here's to hoping.

I love Selinsgrove.....just the shear speed of the place is worth the visit for me. I usually try and get to a few races there each year, generally for the Pa Speedweek race and the WoO Late Models. I never understood why teams shy away from the track...In my hunble opinion, it is not much faster or that much larger than Port Royal. Now that they have moved the pits from the infield there is not a bad seat in the house. Last year's Selinsgrove Nationals with Ryan Smith winning in the McGhee #11 was one of my favorite races of 2018.

Some places run crate late models too. So they started calling the regular late models super late models and then you have crate late models. The same track runs both classes at once so just saying late model you don't know whether reference to super late models( regular) or crate late models.

I agree. If the track was smaller, I think you would get some 358 teams which are allowed to compete(even offered bonuses some weeks) but don't, and I think a lot more URC and NY cars would compete when the schedule allows. Most 360 and 358 teams are lower budget and it takes a lot of money to run competitively on a large fast 1/2+ mile. They need to keep the super lates as I think that is probably the most popular division at the track. A smaller track might be better for some wingless racing too. I was told that they won't schedule USAC or the USAC East Coast 360's because they feel the track is too big and dangerous for wingless. I don't quite get that since USAC races at Port which is just as big and fast, but no doubt wingless racing is more suited for smaller tracks.

Make Selinsgrove smaller? F- that, shorten up the other 2 snoozefest half miles before messing with the real speed palace.

Do what now?
I am surprised that Selinsgrove didn't have more sprint cars as this year went along. If the 305 guys had any sense they would have bought a good used 360 and run Selinsgrove. Heck you make as much to take the green as it does to win a 305 race. I wouldn't be surprised to see Selinsgrove go to 305s and drop 360s. The car count and back gate haul will go up because the 305s race for a hot dog and a coke.
Hefner wanted to remove the inside guardrail and make Selinsgrove like Knoxville. He said that last spring 2018 on the sprintcar unlimited podcast. Kreitzer and Inch didn't want to do it. Hey it works great for Knoxville and I think Hefner had the right idea.

I wouldn't go if 305's were the top sprint division. They are OK as a support division and OK on a small track like Clinton County or Path Valley I suppose. There's got to be a way to get 360's/358's back to the more affordable division they were meant to be. Of course the easiest and most obvious solution is a smaller track.
I like the idea of removing the inside guardrail. Build a curb farther in and make the track really wide like Knoxville. Even better yet would be moving both rails in in 1 of the corners to make it a roundish 4/10 mile like Eldora or Jackson, MN. Make it a little wider and higher banked and then you have a racey dirt track while still having plenty of speed. At any rate, something needs to be done. Drivers don't like racing there. One of the comments you frequently here from drivers that don't have a lot of experience at the track is that it feels like there is no grip even when the track is wet. The 1 big difference I notice between Port Royal and Selinsgrove is that when the track is slick and looking worn out and lap times are in the 20's at Port Royal, some of the fastest cars are still on the top bouncing it off the guardail and passing people - even in the LM feature. At Selinsgrove as soon as it slicks off, it's a parade around the bottom. Not sure if that's a track prep or track shape difference. Selinsgrove has good clay now but it seems like the racing was better with the dusty crap.
