Great night of racing. The track ,weather, and over 80 cars make for enjoyable racing.Add 3 or 4 WOO drivers and you have a feature like the Nationals. Young Scelzi put on a show and Sammy and Jeff both had good nights.12oclock is late for kids but the candy giveaway must of had 500 kids getting a sugar fix that kept them awake. Definately got our moneys worth.

and the young gun from cenral california valley lapped up to ninth place finish with a 7 second plus lead...

that is impressive...

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

Great night of racing without any drama.  Brown didn't look like the dominator I thought he was going to be going into the Nationals.  Should be an interesting next couple of weeks.

Drove around Brownie and Madman like their asses were nailed to the ground. Very impressive.

I agree with all your points.

It's also really something that Gio's brother Dominic won his King of the West 410 feature in a great battle to the finish on the same night as well. Dom's win in California actually came before Knoxville's main event even started at least by my online feed. Plus the Santa Maria track Dom was racing at had 5 divisions (410's,305's,1200's, dwarfs and hobby stocks) and his was the last event of the night! Fans were out the gate in CA by 10pm. Thats a good tight show. Knoxville usually gets it right and I'm sure they'll make corrections but yeah, too late of a start for seemingly no real reason.

Cheers!

Watched the highlight video. The 71 looked like a rocket ship, like a 410 running against 360's. They could be a factor in a couple weeks.

One question, slightly off topic: i was looking at 360 results. McKenna Haase won her heat but still had to run in B main.... whaaaa?

These formats get really confusing sometimes... can somebody explain?

Cory Eliason finished 3rd in his heat, didn't have to run the B, & started 3rd in the feature.... WTF????

200 points to fast time drops by 2 points per position. Heats are 100 points to win & drop by 3 per position. Time trial points & heat points are added together & top 20 in total points make the A. Not that hard to figure out..

Both her and Agan won their heats but timed poorly, and why their points total wasn't enough to lock them into the A main.

Some really random points...

I'd agree that the late start and huge field of cars didn't help with the late night. Tony and the ASCOC announcer do a great job. They actually show some excitement and IMO, add to the excitement of the night.

On a "regular" KCCS night they usually are pretty timely so maybe the All Stars had something to do with it. I thought the track was a little heavy so I think they were trying to get the track prepped as well.

Thanks to Casey's for supporting sprint car racing in so many ways, including the little things like the candy dash. It's why I always stop at Casey's and bypass the others.

Like TMAC said the track was tricky, so maybe that through some guys off. I wouldn't be completely surpised if Brown was experimenting with set up, but regardless Gio is insanely good and will be the next one to move up the ranks.

I don't know all the variables that went into why the late night. I DO KNOW that Knoxville gets it right 90% of the time, so I won't get my panties in a bunch b/c things didn't go my way.

Thursday can't get here soon enought.

You would have thought a Computer was driving the car, virtually no hesitation passing anyone, lapped or regular cars, it was Sammy and Steve in their prime as far as my memory went.  Again, I can't exaggerate enough about how easy and smooth he was it was effortless and I swear he never lifted.  I have seen a lot of features at Knoxville over the years and for the last decade on PPV but nothing even compares to this masterpiece.  If that was looked at as audition he can move into more than half the Outlaw rides right now, personal opinion only......

If Vegas put odds out on the Nationals, Gio would be a great value pick right now.  He wouldnt have the low odds like Schatz, Sweet, Gravel, Pittman, Brown, Schuart.  If somebody said Gio at 15-1?....that would be worth betting on IMO.

Agree.  Anytime going fast on a track by yourself is more important than going fast on a track with other cars, it‘s fair to question the format.  A heat race winner should never have to run a consi.

Huh?  You understand "invert" right?  So by your thoughts you are saying that they should not invert the heats and just let them go straight up by time?  #1 time starts pole of the heat race?  Ya...that makes sense. (eyeroll).

You should also take a look at the times they are turning in for qualyfing. The cars are within 1.5 seconds of each other typically.  That is from slowest to fastest.  You hit the invert right and start on pole of a heat race and all you have to do is get a good jump and drive in clean air while those behind you are throwing sliders and battling it out for position...thus slowing down and speeding up randomly. 8-10 laps typically in a heat race to catch a car running unimpeded that is only a second slower than you???  Ugh. Leave the formats alone.  They typically work just fine.

Not that hard to figure out if you know whose format they're using, I guess....

Doesn't look like usual Allstar format or weekly Knoxville (educated guess, I didn't look weekly format up...)...looks more like Nationals format. Is that what they use for all special events or big cars counts?

But thanks for the info

Yes, I understand how inverts work.  And, yes, I understand times are close together.  My point is that qualifying should not count more towards the night than racing.  Simple as that.  In every format that I've ever seen, including the Knoxville Nationals, if you win your heat race, you go to the feature.  Why should this format be different than that?

360 format was weekly Knoxville format used by 360's & 410's. Don't like it buy Husets and do it your own way. Racing has been great at Knoxville this season.
