Just when you thought there was hope, that pesky 15 car finds the groove that it will likely be in for the next month or so.

1 win in the last 15 races..................."finds the groove?"
I'm not saying he won't catch fire, but he has not officially found his groove yet. Is it likely he will? The past tells us yes as he has a history of being red hot during July-August.
However, the only car in a groove right now is the 49.

Schatz grove for July is usually following the same groove he had since Feb. To win in July after winning since Feb isnt astonishing. To start winning night after night in July would be, but to continue to is expected.
I hope he does cause he is my local aside from Kennedy and Gee and none of those 3 have been on the podium enough for my liking.
Gee is looking good tho.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I had the same thought after his victory in the recent Wilmot race. However I think I will hold judgment until after the next 5 race nights in Ohio

I still have hope for the 49 especially after Friday. It could have been much worst on after the incident coming off of 2 but with the help of other crews, they were able to change the front axel & wing, restart 18th or 20th? Came all the way back to finish 6th. Finished 3rd at Wilmot also so they did not let that 15 get too far ahead of them this past weekend. He finished 2nd at the Kings Royal last year and Won the Nationals. Still picking the 49.

You never like to see a car bent up though. A lot of times a team will run the same car if it’s been winning a bunch and sometimes when thaf car gets bent up it Doesn’t react the same way to adjustments. Not saying that’s happened here but we’ll see.

You got that right. In rare instances, it goes the other way though. I remember Todd Shaffer saying one time when he won a bunch of races that the car they were running got better after they wrecked it and fixed it. I'll never sleep on Donny though. Yeah he's been off this year and it may last for awhile or it may not but one thing's for sure, he'll be back at some point.

The thing that makes me feel good about this is that last week at Cedar Lake when they had the mechanical issues they pulled the back up car down and ended up winning with it. So far they are at least on the level that the 15 has been on with being able to handle adversity. Granted yes you do not want to see anything bent up especially while on a role but it will happen eventually just with regular wear & tear of the schedule they have. It seems that both the 15 & 49 will be fighting down to the end and most likely the winner will come from the team that minimizes the attrition. Turning a night that could have been a 15th place finish into a 6th, or when the one wins the other finishes 3rd will make the difference in the end.

Sweet would have won the Royal last year if not for Pittman getting in his way. So he’s definitely a threat and possibly the favorite.

Make no mistake---------if Vegas were handicapping the month of money, the 49 would be their favorite.
