It looks like I am going to be in DFW for the fourth of July. I know that Devil's Bowl and KSP will be racing. I am having a hard time finding out by the other tracks in the area. Boyd? RPM? any other tracks that I don't know about.

I live in the middle of the D/FW metroplex. If you're looking for sprints, then Devils Bowl is the best option unless you're willing to drive some. Looks like the Sprint Bandits are at the new Buffalo Creek Speedway a little bit north of Canton, which is roughly an hour drive. That's a 360 series if you prefer them over the 305s that Devils Bowl has. I generally avoid KSP since I'm not wild about sitting through eight classes. RPM is no longer run by the Edwards family and only has a part time schedule this year. Boyd has been closed for awhile, although I hear someone is trying to fix it back up and open it. Mountain Creek Speedway (formerly DFW and Grand Prairie) has been shuttered for a few years now. Of course Cowtown closed several years ago. The old 85 Speedway in Ennis is now Big O Speedway and is still running. Superbowl Speedway in Greenville is still running too.

Exactly what race nights are you going to be in town on?

I will be spending the Fourth of July with family, but have the 5th and 6th open. I used to live in DFW over a decade ago so I know a little of the history. When I left town, there seemed to be quite a few more tracks open. I followed the Cowtown closing and was very disappointed in that. When I left time in 2008, the city of Kennedale was really seeming to go to war with the tracks. So I was not terriblly surprised.
I was surprised to hear about Boyd Raceway. When I raced there, it seemed to be a nice track that had thier stuff together. I always enjoyed that track. Was there something that happened to close the track.
Finally, I am surprised about the Edwards no longer being involved with RPM Speedway. I thought that RPM was thier exit strategy in case the super highway ever was built and put Devils Bowl in jeopardy. Is it safe to say that the super highway project is dead? Of did they pick a path that would allow Devils Bowl to stay in business.
Any news on any of this would be greatly apreciated.

What I had heard about Boyd, which may not be entirely true, was that it had been closed a little while and that thieves looted it. I'd also like to hear the status on Devils Bowl. The super highway will be built at some point, I just don't know if they've decided for sure which route it would take.

Sorry for the delayed response guys, but I've been doing some schedule juggling and just got this event ready for launch right now.
This particular track, the new 82 Speedway, is a true gem, and from where I live at Bass Pro Shop/Bush/I-30 on Lake Ray Hubbard, including a gas stop it takes me 80 minutes to get to...so in Metroplex terms, for me, it's not much more of a drive than going to TMS or KSP.
In other words, don't rule it out because it 'appears' to be a trek to get there. More and more DFW based teams are figuring that out and raced up there this past Saturday.
But here is the event, set for July 6th, and I'm posting the flyer as a separate reply (as I keep getting error messages when I post text like this and add a picture to it). I'm also going to post some track pictures. It's a very nice spread out facility with excellent containment/safety, unobstructed viewing and currently you can bring in a drink cooler (no glass) with beer or whatever for $5. The sound system is great too.

Unrelated to this post, and I'm probably the only one that cares, but I just posted the flyer above in Firefox and got this whole list of error codes after I put it up.
Then I came back, deleted it, and the error codes disappeared as well.
Then I reposted the flyer in Chrome - and no error messages! This has been going on for a year, I swear, so I hope that is the 'fix' for down the road too!
Here's some pics from the new 82 Speedway:

I really want to check that one out. I live in Grand Prairie though, so it's a little over two hours for me. You're right about racers being willing to tow some distance though. My brother now drives a dwarf car and he towed all the way to Wichita Falls a couple of weeks ago.

Were you guys able to make it up to the July 6th event?
We had a great crowd and racing, but wacky weather across the entire area certainly kept us from having even a bigger crowd yet. Plus the fans really seemed to get into our 'Flags and Fireworks' segment of the night.

...the Series is off to Heart O' Texas tonight for our final event before we begin our SCB Summer Break, so everyone that wants to can catch Eldora, Knoxville, Bellville, Boone and/or Eagle. Then we'll fire back up later in September when the weather starts to moderate.
