Drove down from Wisconsin and was able to attend Friday night. Yes it had its share of hiccups, but at the end of the night it was a pretty entertaining A main. It was something fun and differant, and it was neat to see the drivers adapt from qualifying to the A main. Everyone around us had a good time and it sounds like Saturday night, they knocked it out of the park. I had other obligations in the city and missed Saturday, however the highlites looked fun and the crowd was even stronger. I will say out of all sports, it seems like  dirt racing in particular, has the largest amount of negative fans who almost thrive on complaining and tearing apart the very series and drivers they follow on a regular basis. Just glad people didnt listen to this board, and came out to see what was a pretty cool weekend in a pretty cool new market. Great job making a winner WOO!

I'm glad it was better than what I was reading.  I would love to venture that way in the future if they can make this an annual event.  I love going to Nashville------------I just need to $ave for about 2 years to go for a 3 day weekend!!!!!!! Smile

On another note:  You said "I will say out of all sports, it seems like dirt racing in particular has the largest amout of negative fans who almost thrive on complaining.........."    You're from Wisconsin-------it can't be worse than a Packer fan, can it?    wink

Dirt racing fans are no different than any other group of fans. Fans of all the major sports teams are always trying to get the coach fired, the players traded/cut etc....

Nascar fans are notoriously critical of the racing.

Let's remember there Is a difference between complaining and straight out telling the truth aorsharing an opinion.

This is also a good point. If you went to a restaurant and the food was cold or gross, would you tell your friends to go there? Would you say nothing?

Dirt track fans are constantly berated for expressing their opinions and occasionally you have some dopes who are overly negative, but if i paid $40 on Friday to see that, I would have been mad. But i also would have come back on Saturday to give them a 2nd chance.

All I am saying, is there is a constructive way to go about it. Big differance between sharing an opinion and outright bashing. For instance, say 150 people read the previous bash thread and said "eh, looks like everyone says it isnt worth the time, lets just stay home" or 300 people read the bash thread and thought, I wont pay to watch this on Dirtvision. Ultimately, those fans would have missed what turned into a great Saturday show, and the loss of revenue ultimately hurts the series, drivers and sport in general. Nothing wrong with voicing an opinion, but do it in a way that doesnt harm a sport that is already locally and regionally fragile. There were things I wasnt impressed with on Friday, however I didnt have a solution to offer, so I didnt bash what I couldnt fix myself. I figured this wasnt their first rodeo, and if any group would turn it around, it would be the WOO. And they did.

I think one thing alot of the people voicing their displeasure(complaining or whatever ya wanna call it) fail to realize(or just dont want to) is that this was night#1 on this dirt.  Could it have been better of course.  But not every night on a dirt track is gonna be perfect.  WoO and Nashville fairgrounds people improved the conditions alot from night 1 to night 2.  If anyone fails to recognize that they just dont want to.  I went both nights...night one wasnt great but it was better than work.  Alot of people around me were brand new...and they were saying they wouldnt come back.  I said come back tomorrow itll be better.  They did and they were glad they did.

Hope they come back next year.

I watched Friday night on DirtVision but as the program turned south, kind of tuned it out.  The feature was not bad that night tho.  I did tune back in Saturday & thought it was an entertaining program.  Sounds like it was a box office hit.  I'm sure they learned some things to do better/differently assuming this event repeats next year.

I think what a lot of people failed to realize as well, as no matter what kind of dirt it is, you can only put so much water into so much dirt.I think they were trying to be conservative on Friday, which is why it was as dry as it was. A true dirt track you can put a whole lot more water on it, because there is more dirt to soak it up. If you only have 6-12 inches of dirt on top of concrete, that little bit of dirt can only soak up so much water before it becomes overly saturated and physically can't take anymore or starts to wash away.

Maybe next year they can get some clay, much better than dirt any day of the week.  Saturday was a big improvement and they are to be complemented for doing so, they obviously went from baby steps to a gigantic leap and it worked.  Any idea the actual attendance, it sure looked full and they are pretty big grandstands?.....

While Saturday certianly was a more entertaining A-main than Friday, IMO this track is just a little too small and tight for 410 sprint cars(or any full size race car), and I generally love bullrings. Move the outside rails out a few feet and add some banking and I bet it would be great.
