Nice to see this young guy take it from a seasoned guy like Larsen. 

His interview referenced Nascar owners watching and he said he would love to get a chance.

Do you think this is a realistic move for him? I dont know what it takes to make that jump nor what to look for in a driver on dirt to be successful on asphalt. 

I know lots of Nascar drivers started in karts and midgets which baffles me cause I would have thought they would work their way up through asphalt tracks and series. Thots?

I don't want to lose him to NASCAR but I'd be surprised if we didn't.   I guarantee you he's attracting the attention of NASCAR owners, maybe even Chip Ganassi.   It would take him awhile to get to Cup, but he'd be an upgrade for the Ganassi #1 car over the last two drivers they've had.    

I would have to think he has to be near the top of all the current 17 year old dirt track racers in the country in terms of NASCAR owners knowing who he is, especially with a famous racing father. He certainly has the talent, and is a very well spoken young man....mature beyond his years. Winning last night in Charlotte certainly helped raise his profile.

For sure, nascar is always looking for young drivers to groom. I can't think of too many guys his age that would have a better resume. I can't think of any.

It'll be a crime against humanity if this thoroughbred race horse gets relegated to pack mule duty in a stock car. Our only hope is if he gets busted soliciting a prostitute or trying to carry a loaded gun through airport security or something.

Hey Sappy, after reading your post it got me to thinking, what is your wife doing these days?  I miss that old crazy chatroom with the three of us, we had some great laughs, should have sent some of that stuff to today's late night hosts, had to be better than a lot of today's crap...

I think he’d have to bring some money to the table to have a shot unless one of the manufacturers gets behind him like Toyota did with Bell. 

these things kind of go in cycles. as ca. race fans, we watch these hard charging kids develop into exciting racers, only to lose them to a racing market larger & more diverse than our own, with more opportunity and exposure. in a few cases, it's gone to the next level eg; Larson, Sweet. in Brad's case, he came back to be a fulltime outlaw, good for us fans, and we all know Kyle will eventually end up there as well, just not for many years. in Gio's case as well as Buddy Kofoid, only time will tell. I've watched both these kids grow up into the racers they've become, it's a hard pill to swallow not getting to see them in the field around here on saturday night, yet makes all us fans here very proud to read their names in the headlines. big things to come for both of them this summer & beyond

She's still hanging around.    I miss the Central PA board too, and RaceCar Johnny. I hope he's still above ground. 

A better prospect?  I can name a few, Bill Gates son, Steve Jobs kid, or virtually any close relative of any owner of a Fortune 500 company owner.  I'm kidding of coarse and I know nothing about this Selzi kid but unfortunately it seems like it's more about how much money you can to NASCAR than talent.

His father is a top flight NHRA drag racer, so they probably have some dough....

Lot of talent plus father Gary knows the business .You certainly cant blame the drivers with the talent and charisma to make it to the Nascar level even if it is not what many true dirt fans hope for. Look at Ryan Blaney and the path his Dad helped open the door.

Haha what a dum dum post. Kurt Busch is currently 8th in points in his first year with the team and a past champion. So a kid that has never driven a nascar would be an upgrade cause he won some outlaw shows. I like Scelzi a lot and enjoy watching him race but this is a terrible take. Most sprintcar fans takes usually are tho I hear them everyweek at the track. 

Does the name Dennis Roth ring a bell?  The best equipment money can buy.  Give Geo several years as hes only been running a sprinter for several years now but talent, yes, family money, of course.  Would Gary be hard to work for when he forks out the dollars???

The Selzi's have a huge trucking company, part of the reason Gary left the top fuel dragster ride he had for years, his business needed tending too and face it, those top fuel cars are dangerous and he's healthy after many years so it was time.

Gio has said his goal is NAPCAR. Unless someone brings a dumpster full of gold it ain't happening. Gary won't spend a dime of his own money( smart descion).

If they approached a Dale jr. Who is in the business of grooming up and comers tomorrow with the cash, Gio would be looking for rental property in Charlotte. Larson may be the last non Dumpster full of gold driver to reap the advantage of actually having talent and landing a seat. Don't hold your breath, not anytime soon.
