1) So far as I could tell, the several notable absentees from the central and southern San Joaquin Valley at last month's USAC WC 360 / VRA Battle of the Beach #1 at Ventura did NOT put wings of their cars and join up with the new Kings of Thunder Winged 360 series running at both Hanford and Tulare. Three- or four-year erstwhile WC 360 driver D. J. Netto led most of the way, with Outlaw star Carson Macedo and NARC comer Domenic Scelzi in hot pursuit in the A main. Macedo had to restart at the back after a spin, but managed to work back through the nip Netto for the win. Another several-year erstwhile WC 360 driver of note, one Brandon "Bud" Kaeding, was a factor until he spun late in the going in an unsually entertaining wing race.
2) The young lady who impressed us so much as a 15-year-old in the Western Racesaver 305 wingers last year, before being injured in a nasty flip, flat dominated the field of 16 cars their 25-lap A main. Only one significant bobble marred Brooklyn "Pretty" Holland's train ride as the Fresno high schooler ran along the tops of Hanford's banking pulling away from Michael Pombo, Mauro Simone, Jared Faria, Blake Fagundes, et al on restart after restart. The crowd did, in fact, go wild. Watch this space.
