Looks like it's TRUE! I guess the jokers got the brunt of the April Fools joke! I love it! Hate to see Central Pa lose another car though. Pretty soon we can close the tracks and open them for Outlaw & WoO races. This is out of control in my opinion. 358's and 360's should be the main division. The hell with these 410's.

Regular weekly shows are going to become scarce as the years pass--all over the country. There are many factors that will play into it and switching to 360's will not change most of these factors.

I don't know as much about the rest of the country but I think the weekly shows in Central PA will soon become a thing of the past unless something changes. We have had decent fields at all the races so far BUT once you take all the ASCoC, Ohio and Western PA cars out of the mix, it doesn't look good for us.

I agree with you. The scary thing is that this is occuring when the economy is good. The next recession is going to really lay the smackdown on car counts.

It started a few years ago with several prominent teams folding do to the rising costs, the Bobby Allen Gang heading to the WOO. Then Brent Marks going WOO. I am glad to see they all have been doing well. Several more 410 teams "retired" many of which were weekly Lincoln Speedway regulars. Then Tony Stewart took the reins of the All Stars and we in Central PA lost more cars. The lure of the All Stars is the money they recieve to show up, PLUS the better payout back thru the field.
Port and Lincoln both upped their purse to win and added a bit thru the field, but really who can run an aggressive 410 schedule with these purses? Hence the teams travel to the higher paying shows that are almost a weekly occurance somewhere close. These all take our local cars and add in splitting 410"s between 2 premire tracks on a Saturday night makes for low car counts.
If I am the owner of a 410 team , I would be doing the same things to keep my team afloat. I as a fan do not mind paying admission to a track for good racing, but i want to see more then 20 cars and only a few top notch teams, so even the fan count drops.
In conculsion "watch them and support them while we still have them"

Maybe those 2 premiere 410 weekly Saturday shows need to run one series and point championship and alternate weekends.
Settle for a little instead of being forced to have nothing.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

The problem is, unlike in the "old days" only a handful of teams are willing to run at both Lincoln and Port Royal. Each track has their own set of Saturday night racers and teams are not willing to venture from their tracks. Even if one of the Saturday tracks is rained out and the other manages to run, the teams just sit it out for the night and wait for next week.

Conflicting “press releases” - so which one is the April Fools joke - the April Fools release or the going WoO release?
Is he going with the outlaws or not?

It was a joke.
The follow up to the WoO post just a few hours later was titled "Real News" and then posted his results from this past weekend and a look ahead to next weekend as usual. DD followed it up on Facebook by saying he has no intentions of ever travelling more than he does now.

I have been going to weekly shows in Pa. for over 60 years and the sky has been falling according to some for at least 50 of them.

This is likely to happen in a lot of areas.

I've been saying that for years. Right now would be a great time for all the tracks to come together and work out a regional series with a great point fund and well structured purses. It will never happen though.

This whole thing is pretty funny, except part about declining weekly races
Rod in Canada's idea (alternating weeknds, joint points fund) makes sense to me, too bad some teams don't want to travel even an hour or so...

I'm guilty of it myself, but really this is only an issue for the start of the season. We had some teams move on or get out, but also a good many moved up (Shearer, Walton, Kyle Smith, Hivner, Norris, etc.) in addition I've heard Alex Bright will be running 410s at Lincoln a bit as well. Most of these guys just don't want to risk their cars early, if the tracks need to work together it is primarily in the early part of the season when they are splitting a smaller group of cars.
I always thought a "pre season series" would really work well for a bunch of reasons
11 Races, min $4k to win.
$3k to champ, payout to top 10. (wouldn't be too difficult to arrange sponsors in addition to tracks paying a sanction fee of $300 or so per event).
Race 1: Lincoln (Ice Breaker)
Race 2: Lincoln (First week of March)
Race 3: Lincoln (Second week of March Sat)
Race 4: Port (Second week of March Sun)
Race 5: Lincoln (Third week of March Sat noon)
Race 6: Port (Third week of March Sat 5PM)
Race 7: Williams Grove (Third week of March Sun)
Race 8: Williams Grove (Fourth week of March Fri)
Race 9: Port (Fourth week of March Sat noon)
Race 10: Lincoln (Fourth week of March Sat 5PM)
Race 11: BAPS (Fourth week of March Sun)
This would be great for the drivers who want to race early (rewarded with a chance to wrap up a championship and make some good money by the end of March). In addition this would help bring some guys from outside the area I think with a decent point fund and good promotion. Could see guys like Cole Duncan or a few of the All Stars running it, or even someone like Balog who has visited Central PA early in the season before. It would also be great for the fans to see a bunch of racing before the end of March, and good for the tracks for the same reason. Most importantly it would be good for the low budget teams as part of the deal would be track points don't start until after the pre season series. So those low budget teams would not be disadvantaged if they didn't want to risk their equipment early on. First weekend of April track points would start giving the low buck guys an actual chance at a good points finish not having to start 4-5 races behind the bigger teams. win-win-win-win IMO.
