Street Rod photos
I love it, my first car in the 60's was a 58 chevy. The Street Rod gallery is one of the few non-racing photo sessions I did this past summer. It's from "Back to the 50's" at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.

Thanks Duane! However, I couldn't afford any of those back in the 50's when I was a teen.....Had to wait 50 years so I could pay 10 times for what one cost new. How many of us older Hosers that used to be involved in racing either as an owner, driver or both, now have taken up the hobby of collector cars? And what do we have? Instead of some type of racecar today I have a 1957 Pontiac Chieftain 2 dr ht and in the process of restoring a 66 Pontiac Lemans conv.

Duane, my fondness for Pontiacs started before my passion for Indian Rights did. My first was a 56 top of the line Star Chief that did have a lighted hood ornament as did some of the 53-57's. The 57 Star Chief and Bonneville had lighted fender ornaments rather than the hood. Love them Pontiacs!

My first hotrod was a 66 SS Chevelle - Very sweet car, baby blue very good condition. Sold it to a Texas Mexican for $2,000 in 1982. Probably bring around $10,000 today. Still cuss myself for that.
2nd: 1970 SS El Camino, Dark metallic green w/ Gold trim - also a nice ride
3rd: 1981 Corvette, Black T-tops. fun car..
I tell the younger guys here at work about "back when" almost every car was rear wheel drive, hearing a V-8 rumble when cruizing the one-ways was not out of the ordinary. (Caminos, Camaros, Mustangs, Chargers, Challengers, Darts, GTO, Chevelles, Novas, 442's, all were pretty common sight.)
My biggest regret was never getting a 70 Cuda' - God I loved those cars (67 SS Camaro would have been nice too :-)

I don't want to make you feel worse Paintboss, but I think you could at least double your estimate for the 66 SS today. They got pretty pricey lately......most of the nice ones I've seen for sale are closer to $30M or higher.....,and the prices for 70 Cudas are off the chart.
Stan - I'll be sure to contact you if I decide to make the trip.
Say Offie - Is that roadster yours?

Al, it is and he built it himself!
Drano, nice memories dancing around in my tiny mind right now. I still remember hurrying to the drug store to get the new issue of Hot Rod and Stock Car about 45 years ago. For some reason tho', not sure why, I have been into imports it seems. From my first ever car, a '71 TR-6 to today's German special the '87 911 Carrera, not mechanical enough I guess? All the best, Take It Easy.....
