Has anybody that is a fan here traveled the whole WoO tour start to finish for a season?
After Nationals I was google mapping the stops the WoO did and thought that it would be a cool to follow heading west. I have done some vacations in the Dakotas/Wyoming areas and I like it out there. Some day when I retire it might be a fun deal to run with for a while.

That would be so fun to do. I talked to a guy a few years back that had traveled the whole circuit two years in a row(with his wife). Both retired and they loved it

I wonder what it would cost to run the whole tour... as a fan?

My wife has mentioned that when, or if, we can ever retire and afford it. I think it would be fun to do for a year. You'd get to see most of the country and all those racetracks you have only read about. I wonder if the WOO would sell you a season pass at a reduced rate?

Lol I was going to say something along the same line, if only the WoO had a "Platinum Fan membership" that guaranteed you so much tow money per show. A guy can dream right?

This would be a fantadtic way for the WoO to work a promotion/marketing into this. Free pass for all shows, find a sponsor for a "fan travel blog" and work with you to publicize the adventure (written and video, etc.) from a fan perspective with stops around the country. There is A LOT of potential here for a cool "fan centric" marketing venture.

$39.00 a month same as DirtVision would work. Of course that would be for each, husband and wife. LOL!

I could be the "Jeff Gluck" of the WoO sprint tour! I'm sure everyone one on here would sponsor me through a GoFundMe account right?

I’ve done the west coast tour from Skagit to Chico (or Antioch) a few times. It was a ton of fun but by the end of it I was exhausted, haha.
God bless Gibson who’s been doing the whole thing for 22 years straight!
Like the rest of you, a lifelong goal is traveling the WoO tour when I retire. We’ll see what happens.

My wife and I have talked about it before too. Would be awesome to pack up the F250 and 5th wheel and hit the road for the whole tour.
I have done 4 races during Ohio speed weeks since living in Ohio, and did the Badger state shootout in Wisconsin one year when we lived there when Dollansky, Goeden, and Whitney were competing for the $3000 bonus, and then last year did Eldora KR and Williams Grove Nats in 2017 back to back weekends... All while working full time too. So, when retired I'd like to possibly try it out? Great idea someone had about season tickets too.
Would be a good Vlog/blog to make about where to stay/what to do between races? Maybe get a discount at some camp grounds for mentioning them and placing their campsite on the webpage?
Damn!! Now your making me want to do it!

Interesting topic, as one of my fantasies many years ago was acquiring an RV and hitting the whole circuit at least once, after I was retired. Starting in '79 or '80, I attended WoO races in 19 states and 1 Canadian province over a period of 15 years or so. Somewhere during that time, I also started hitting some USAC races as well.
Fast forward to 2018, and I have been retired for almost 12 years, have had an RV for 7, which is used exclusively for attending races. I only get to about 25-30 a year, but they are primarily non-winged, either in IN, AZ or CA. Somewhere down the road, I lost interest in the winged stuff. I stopped going to the Knoxville Nationals in 1993, after attending for 16 consecutive years. The highlight of my year is now Indiana Sprint Week, which I have attended at least 14 times since '99. I still catch a WoO show every year or so, and follow their results on the various websites.
Don't take this as a slight on WoO racing. Tastes change over time, and apparently mine did. Realistically, I don't think I could chase these guys back and forth across the country for a year anymore, as 500 miles (preferably less) is my daily limit driving an RV. But I certainly respect anyone who gets to live out this dream. If you are able and willing, go for it!

If you had to work your way thru as a woo blogger you wouldnt be very retired after the season. I think if I committed to fillow the whole tour my nature would force me try to work with someone like Brent Marks as a volunteer. Im sure I could do something for free and maybe learn enough to help. Hands on is way better.

I had a friend chase them for a summer many years ago. He stated that there were multiple people doing that over the summer. He said that the people who could double team the driving did better than he did being only a single driver. He said that they would try to park together whenever they could.
I also remember a story about a guy who did the same thing for the USAC tour. When you combine the three series they have as many dates as the outlaws.

I retired at the end of July and my wife probably would like it if I took off and followed the Outlaws so I wasn't home recording music. But seriously, I dropped from around 40-45 to two or three races per season and the thought of doing the same thing day in and day out for months doesn't appeal to me. I wait for them to come to me and I hate to admit it but Dirtvision for $39 per month was cheaper than going to see the two-day Outlaw show 32 miles from the end of my driveway this past summer. I don't care to sit in the stands and though I don't shoot photos for publications anymore I still like to hang around the pits and take a few action shots for old time's sake. As much as I'd like to still do that once in a while the cost at the gate went from a free media pass to something like $40 or $45 per night. I was looking at $150 for gas, food and pit passes as opposed to $39 for a whole month of their races on a 55" TV HDTV with a picture so good I find myself ducking the dirt clods as if I was there. This past season I didn't dig the camera out and shoot a race until September. I'm not sure about next year, the neighbor is going to be racing a winged Sprint so I'll probably try being a pit grunt and see what that's like. I rarely ever sit in the stands unless we make a redeye to Knoxville.

Yea, I think some people do the whole USAC tour too
That would be my preference
I think I would get burnt out by doing the whole tour tho... to much of a good thing
Entire Indiana Sprint Week or Midget Week would be cool tho. (Also Ohio) I usually hit a few shows each of Pa. Sprint Week, Eastern Storm, & Indiana weeks

I think doing the whole WoO tour in one season would be a grind. I could see doing it over over 3 year deal. Break up those westcoast swings over a few years since Im from Ohio. Pick up other races in between.

Anita Zwern followed the entire WoO tour a time or two. She was even awarded the WoO Fan of the year. She unfotunately passed away in 2012. She retired in California and moved to Indiana to be closer to sprint car racing.

This would be a great time and something I too have thought of doing upon retiring.
Would definitley have to get the wife behind the wheel to help with the driving duties.
