Oops! I originally put the wrong phone number on that flyer!  Apparently some lady in Forest Hill got tired of getting phone calls for the speedway and figured out the problem.  The number -- (318)748-7800 -- is correct on there now.

My bad!

Basically this is UMP-type rules except for tires.

Weight at all times is 2400 pounds with driver. You DO NOT have to add weight for aluminum heads.

Bodies: If your legal for UMP or IMCA, you'll be OK. Nothing radical though but there won't be a repeat of what happened in Mississippi earlier this year where guys loaded up rather than cut all their stuff up. Call RACELINE if you need to know more about this topic.

2007 Rules: No Quick Changes yet! (That may happen next year)

We already mentioned that tires are the Hoosier G60 or the American Racer KK704 and for this race, you CAN groove, sipe and grind!

It's not too early to start praying for a pretty weather day either. Man was it georgeous today!

See if you can't make practice on Friday night! Weather looks good right now with mild temperatures, no chance of r--- Friday and just a 30% chance on Saturday and then, if necessary, a 30% chance on Sunday too.

Friday's practice is just $15 for car AND driver to get in. Then your crew is just $5 each. So for $25, driver and 2 pit crew get into practice.

That makes it free! How?

If you enter the race before practice ends you save $25 on the entry fee. $125 vs $150 in Modifieds, $75 vs $100 in Limited Mods.

All it will cost you, is a night in the hauler. Overnight camping & parking IS permitted.

See ya there!

We've gotten a phone call from at least one serious ARKIE racer that's coming for this one. I know a lot of the better OKIE Modified drivers are committed to Corpus this weekend but I was wondering if there might be one or two slip down this way Saturday?

Hopefully that'll work out for you there Bobcat. Didn't mean to be exclusionary with that term "better Okies." Who's your driver?

Just trying to let folks know that Jason Hughes, Tommy Weder, Greg Skaggs and Randy Timms will all most likely be in Corpus this Saturday. On most nights, that means there's 4 more A main spots than normal open for someone else! wink

There were several good runs by other, also "better" Okies this past weekend with William Gould getting 2nd at Paris and 14-year old Gary Scott Christian getting 4th. Sean Brassfield also ran decent at Cowtown too. Anyone willing to make the tow from up there would be an OK Okie in my book! Wonder what ol' Eddie Martin's plans are this weekend? Seminar? Vegas?. I know where Eddie will be next week: Casa Grande, Arizona! $10,000 to win! Just won $15,000 a week and half ago at Las Cruces driving for Alan Sharpensteen!

And now for the coup de gras!

Promoter Clyde Hollaway has come up with the clincher that's going to assure quite a crowd at the 1st Annual Acadiana Modified Nationals!

"What is it?" you ask?

Has he decided to pay Scott Bloomquist $10,000 to race a Modified there?

Uh, no.

Well, how about $7500 in tow money to Ken Schrader?

No.

Is he bringing in the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders?

No, they're busy these days. Personally I prefer cowgirls do the cheerleading anyway.

Has he doubled the purse of the already largest one-day, Louisiana Modified purse of the year? Or has he doubled the already biggest one-day full-framed Limited Modified (SSMs, SIMS, etc.) purse in history?

NO, NO, NO...

Are there former SUPR Late Model champions coming to race?

Well, maybe. wink

This is better. (except for maybe the cheerleader idea)

Mr. Clyde is cooking up gumbo as we speak!

And it will be part of Friday's concession stand menu!

This just might compare to the best $5 I ever spent for food at a dirt track. It was at Leesville 171 Speedway and I got crawfish etouffee (a - 2 - fay) and a large fresh sqeezed lemonade!

I don't know what Friday's price will be for the gumbo but I already know, I want some! I also heard there may be a bar-b-que in the works for Saturday too.

I all I know is, if Mr. Clyde's cooking it, you want it! Trust me.

Don't look at your screen like that! You have to raise a $28,000 one-day Mod show purse somehow!

Update from tonight's practice:

Liz called from the track around 9:30. Good count but not overwhelming so don't let car count scare you off from entering tomorrow! Had about 25 cars in each class.

Rodney Wing was at practice. AND another former SUPR Late Model champion Rob Litton will drive Tom Munson's #44 (I think it's a Kraft Kar Chassis)! He practiced along with Dustin "Tater" Hyde and Jeff Huckaby, both from Texarkana. Morgan Bagley of Longview, Texas was also on hand with one of those fast Larry Shaw Race Car chassis. Huckaby also drives a Shaw while Hyde is in a TRE.

On the Limited side of things Robbie Davis had two cars there with Robbie in one and The Original Young Gun, Timmy Culp in the other. Monroe's Dusty Myers was also getting laps and get this, former SUPR Late Model racer Bubba Mullins will join son Bud Mullins (that's the "X" car in the poster) in the Limited Modified field tomorrow.

Should be a really good field and a really good show. Hope to see as many of you as possible at Thunder Valley tomorrow. We'd like to make this one an annual tradition.

Cya there!

They tried to start at 4:30 but rain delayed that. They still finished at 10PM with 110 cars in two classes! Here's the report:

Whynot Motorsports Park promoter & former SUPR Late Model champion Rodney Wing from Meridian, Mississippi drove the Garrett Motorsports/Tony Barker Racing Engines GRT Chassis #51 to victory in the 1st Annual Acadiana Modified Nationals at Thunder Valley Speedway Saturday night.

Wing earned enough passing points in his heat race to start outside pole beside top point getter Michael Knighten from Shreveport, Louisiana and his #96 Hughes Chassis. On the first attempted start, Knighten got the jump but 9th starting Jared Landers spun the Bad Boy Mowers #777 Shaw Chassis in turn three and collected 6 cars. All were able to restart but that caused Landers a trip back to 22nd starting spot in the 24-car field and a complete restart.

This time Wing got the jump and led all 35 laps. Knighten did make it interesting late in the race. There were only a couple cautions after that first pile-up. One at lap 13 and one at lap 29. Wing built a good lead but after lap 25, Knighten reeled him in. Wing was being conservative but his car began to tighten up too. Knighten didn't need that lap 29 caution. Wing was excellent on the restarts. Knighten closed one more time under the white flag and put a bumper under Wing in turn 3 but had to settle for a $2000 runner-up -- Michael's biggest racing payday of his career.

Texarkana's Dustin "Tater" Hyde had another fine run going in his TRE Chassis that ended rotten. Hyde had run third most of the race but a half-a-lap away from the white flag he pulled into the infield. Not only did he miss out on $1500 but his engine blew as well.

That moved John Whittington from Vidor, Texas and his Bob Pierce chassis up to finish third after he earlier used a Hot Chassis Limited Modified to fight off Shane Hebert's Express Race Cars chassis Limited Modified to win the $2000 Limited feature. The duo ran many laps side-by-side with Hebert getting the $1000 second. Jimmy Day from the Dallas area finished an $800 third in the Limiteds. That race featured a lot of side-by-side racing throughout their main event while not so much in the Modified finale. Not terrible but not great either. In the Limiteds, Jamie Burford used a TRE chassis to charge from 22nd starting spot and finish 4th by primarily passing on the outside.
Back to the Modified A-main, Minden's Michael Robertson drove his Kraft Kar chassis to a 4th place finish. Robertson won $5000 at the Texas DIRT Motorplex's Texas DIRT Shootout one month ago. Next week, TDM has a $2000 to win, one night Modified purse as part of the Turkey Nationals. Race time 5PM on Saturday night, November 24th. The track is located off Interstate 20 just an hour and a half west of the Louisiana border.

One guy who could pass in the Modified A-main was Landers. After restarting 22nd on the complete restart, Landers advanced to a near dead heat finish for fifth with Bobby Malchus of Red Oak, Texas who was driving a Rowland-owned Shaw.

Unofficially, others who were in or around the top ten included Chris Henigan, Joel Couvillion, Jason Hughes from West Plains, Missouri who started near the back and got the RaceWorx Graphics $100 hard charger award and Jamie Burford (started 20th).

There were 58 Modifieds on hand with 52 Limiteds. Good car counts, good pit numbers but a steady, very light rain together with gray looking, dreary skies from Alexandria to the track hurt the grandstand crowd I believe. The race got started a little late as a result and it took some extra packing to get the track ready. Once started, the show ran very well and we were done at 10 PM.

Don't forget:

Nov 24th. Turkey Nationals. Possible $2000 to win. Texas DIRT Motorplex, Tyler, Texas.

Nov 29, 30 and Dec 1st. USMTS Texas Winter Nationals. 3 independent, one-night shows. $1000, $2000 and $3000 to win. Houston Raceway Park.

Dec 7th and 8th. Soup Bowl. 2 independent, one-night shows. $1000 and $4000 to win. Pike County Speedway, Magnolia, Mississppi.
