Got my Eldora renewal today for the Dirt Late Model Dream, and there is some reference to big news coming about the Kings Royal. Ticket price is going up to $44. Some twitter chat re: a possible 6 figure 1st place payout for it.
Dream is going to $125k to win instead of the usual $100k. Next year is 25th running.
Tony has his critics, but he has really done right by that place IMO. They have stepped up their payouts for all their big events in recent years. He has also put lots of $ into the facility both for the fan & participant since he took it over.

Adjusted for inflation, 50k in 1984 (first Kings Royal) is 121k today. The 50/50 winner won more than Schatz did at this years race, so it’s definitely time for an increase.
100 or 125k to win would be sweet.

Schatz should have bought a 50/50 ticket. He wins in just about everything he gets into.

Don’t discount the effect the SCWC may have as well on this. The Royal is being rivaled now and now paying half of that race. It would be great to have 3 races paying 100k+ to win

What they did a few years ago was actually better, in my opinion, than adding money to the winner's share. They added a date for thursday, increased the purse for Friday, and paid more throughout the field. I think it is $3000 to start now and $10000 for 5th, and $5000 for 10th. I would much rather them pay more throughout the field and then add to the winner's share.
Does anyone have the purse structure of the SCWC? I know it was $100k to win but I would be interested to see how much it pays through the rest of the A-Main and even through the B-Mains. This past year the first non transfer out of the B at the Kings Royal paid $2500 which is what some local shows pay to win. Sometimes that whole Winner's share throws people off on how good the payout actually is.

Tony has done a good good job at Eldora.
I just wish the All Stars would bump their "to win" up to 6 or 7 thousand. It has been 5 thousand for how many years (probably at least 20)? Time to increase that IMO.

Thanks for the info. Comparing the two races, it appears outside o fthe winner's share (2nd place is the same) the Kings Royal pays more from 3rd-24th at each position. Both are good events and I have no problem with one or the other and have no problem with paying extra for a ticket. I know I have seen people on here stating that SCWC now pays more than the Kings Royal which yes it does for the winner's portion. However throughout the field the Kings Royal pays better. The total Purse for SCWC A-Main is $204500 but almost half that money is for the winner. It only out pays the whole A-main of the Kings Royal by $16800 with a $50,000 difference for the winner. If you take 2nd-24th then the KR pays $137700 & SCWC pays $104500, a difference of $33,200 more for the KR.
To me, I think this actually makes it better for the racers since there is only 1 winner. Instead of the complaints about the winners share being more, I think events/sanctioning bodies need to look at paying more through the field.

|
SCWC paid $150 for the whole weekend for non-transfers, but ability to run in non qualifiers race on Sat, that paid 2k to win, 200 to start.
Kings Royal paid from 2000 down to 350 for non-qualifiers for Sat.
