Any word on how the Grove is going to handle the makeup feature they started the race and had a red after one lap with Greg in the lead?
Wolfe and Greg were the front row seems like years ago I HONESTLY FEEL THEY SHOULD BRING THE CARS OUT line them up the way they were running and wave the Checkers.

The race never got a lap complete. Rule book states all cars must cross the line for the 1st lap to count, laps 2-25 they don’t all need to. This means it will be a complete restart with all cars in the red tagging the rear. Greg will also be scored 24th as once the initial green drops no relief driver or changes are aloud.

Correct. Had it not rained, it would've been a complete restart so the race is just picking up where it left off.

Sounds like a tough spot. I see the frustration of having the 305's but you make some good points. Not only is it the promoters dream for that night but also the future of any 360 or 410 racing. Tracks can have these support classes but they need to move the show along better if they want to.
As I've stated before, I don't really care what time they get done when I go to the races. I've got a camper setup in the corner of the parking lot. So, I don't sit in line getting out and I'm not doing any long drives. That said, I see everyone elses point. They need to get the main event done in a timely fashion if the night is dragging on.

6 hotlap sessions for 42 305’s (7 cars per session) was a real head scratcher! Could have cut it to 4 sessions.

Good point. Supposedly getting times for heat lineups?

Could be, I have no idea of the procedure they use for starting spots. I assumed ( yeh, I know what happens when you assume) they just used draw. But in retrospect, getting times would justify the small hot lap field size if that is the process.

hello...i'm a first time poster. we moved into central pa a year ago. it didn't take long to love sprint car racing especially living 5 minutes from williams grove.
i agree on the length of shows. we have a 4 year old and he loved being awake for the first feature. we knew there was no chance at seeing the second one so we went home. i wish they could make sure the 410 end of things is always done by 10-10:30. the outlaw shows over the summer were great because they were done even earlier.
the late endings and having the 410 feature first makes it hard to get my son into the pits. the outlaw shows came through for this too. thankfully my son got to meet greg hodnett a couple times. greg was his favorite because he drove a yellow car. he never hesitated to sign an autograph for him and just struck me as a really nice guy...so he became my favorite too.
i was curious what people thought about mike heffner's comments before the race...and what the grove should've done about the driver's championship. it's a tough spot for lucas wolfe to be in and i'm curious how he has handled it...or what the perception is in how he handled it. for the sake of a couple races i would have liked to see them end the season with hodnett as champion.
that's just my feeling. see you at lincoln.

Glad you found our sport and became a fan. Love hearing about people discovering and falling in love with sprint car racing. We need all the new fans we can get. I totally agree with everything you said. A lot of what happened last night was out of Williams Grove's control. It was just one of those nights. That said, early on they did a fair amount of screwing around though. I brought up this very subject numerous times. If our sport wants families and casual fans to be involved, these tracks around here (Williams Grove, Port Royal and Lincoln are all guilty of it) need to run more efficient programs and give those people time at the end of the night to go to the pits and meet their favorite drivers and get autographs, pictures etc. That personal connection is crucial is hooking new fans and keeping casual fans coming back and hopefully, they too will become diehards who go each weekend.

At least twice this year with 305s. In their control. Cars awful both times and to small for the track. Even 410s say williamsgrove is hard on their engines. Been at quite a few tracks in our area this year. This is the track with later start times, single car time trials, and rarely start on time and long runnning shows even on a regular night. Many travel quite a ways to this track. They have an attendence problem already. I believe they can make some positive changes. Without the folks that travel 2 plus hours each way every week will just be locals and the crowds will be worse. We sit with, new york, new jersey, delaware and pa that spend 4 hours a friday night just to be there for 410 racing.

I thought The Grove should name Lucus & Greg co-champions and pay them both champion money.

This isnt a heartless post but the champion should be however has the most points at the end of the season. If Mr Hodnett had broken a right ankle would we be having this discussion? If Mr Wolfe and company offer to share it thats up to them. Or put an asterisks on the history page.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!
