All OKC fans (and others too) should be extremely proud as Joe Wood Jr. raced his ass off and made the A Main against over 50 of the best racers around the nation at the 2nd Night of the Short Track Nationals (in Little Rock). He won a heat race against the likes of ASCS Champ Gary Wright and WoO driver Paul McMahon among other high profile drivers. It wasn;t easy either as there were 3 or 4 cautions. He started 7th in his qualifier and was up to around 4th or 5th until USAC ace Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and All Star Champ Greg Wilson both made runs from the back to the front. During that action Joe raced Kevin Ramey extremely hard and had the pass made but a caution negated it. Joe Wood Jr. finished his qualifier where he started 7th - again against a hell of a field of cars. That run was good enough to make the feature as he gained a few spots in it as well. Talked to his dad afterwards and you could tell they were all extremely proud. Too bad more OKC cars didn't come out - but at least the ONE that did - repped it awfully well. As Joe keeps runnin high profile races against very stout competition (outside of okc) he's only gonna get better - on top of how good he already is. I don't think it's a matter of if he'll win in ascs - but when..........and he is one hell of an ambassador for sfs and the racing in general. Personally, I think tonight is just a sign of things to come -
Congrats Joe Wood Jr. - keep kickin ass and making SFS Nation proud.

It all has to do with the top secret improvements we made to his wing this week. Just kidding, Good job Joe. When he gets a little more patience he is going to be hard to beat.

The only problem with the trick wing is it didn't come with lettering. I guess you might argue without all of that HEAVY vinyl it made Jr. faster. lol
Good job David, it takes a whole team of people to make it happen. Thank you for your dedication.

lol. thats funny.
patience never looked an issue the last 2 nights. searched race track until he found the line that worked best for him.........jumped the cushion a couple times - but the rest of the field was too - perhaps even more so.
It may have been chilly - but damn this weekend's racin was well worth the drive. Of course ya'll know I liked it - there was over 100 cars..............thats a joke by the way - although my alter ego - CCC - was in sprint car heaven for the duration of the weekend.............
