Drivers that make it to the Saturday night A main are guaranteed at least $5000 total payout for the three days combined.

yeah the track can be rough at times, the wall a bit scary up close, even though, some drivers challenge it nightly. there's some crashes, so many that it warrants an over/under. like Ron Rodda says, the unpredictable factor of track conditions make dirt track racing special. i personally will accept any of the negative type aspects of Thunderbowl Raceway & Trophy Cup in exchange for guys like Shaffer, Reutzel, Parker Price Miller, Rahmer, Haudenschild, Crawley, & any other traveler, not to mention local racers that end up here roughly 5 weeks from now for what i, as well as many other west coast fans consider the best race of the year. and thank you Ron for your grandstand perspective as we live vicariously thru you visiting all the tracks most of us have not the time to do

Seems to me that there are fewer torn up cars now that the cornerers have been widened by 10' as I recall. Remember every car passed at Cup is points to the back of sat A for 25g. Yes high points to the rear. Then 50 laps of Thunderbowl goodness ! Only dirt track in Cali with steel plate for corner catch fence, a cushion that can cover the crash wall and drivers with no bottoms in their driving seats. Three days of 360 wing sprint car bliss.
From central coast of Cali.
Peace, Out.
