Josh Schneiderman – Closing the Season in the Top Ten

Des Moines, IA (August 29, 2018) – Josh Schneiderman came up just one spot short of making his finish on the track during Season Championship night at the Knoxville Raceway match his finish in the 410 point standings; ending 8th and 7th respectively. The Deuce Motorsports team will keep the World of Wheels car #49 at the shop over the long Labor Day weekend, as Schneiderman and his family will instead turn their focus to getting their house sold!

With drivers and crews ready to take to the track for the final time this season at the Knoxville Raceway, some nearby transformers had different plans. “The power outage was an interesting way to start the night,” said Josh. “I’ve been at tracks before, including Knoxville, that have had power issues, but it being out for that long of a time was definitely something new for me.”

While the power would come back on after a brief delay, a change in the events was made that ended up working against Schneiderman and the Land Pride #49. “After the Knoxville track crew made the decision to scratch time trials with the delay, they had the heats drawn up where they would be lined up off the point standings,” said Josh. “Though they ended up deciding to base the lineups off the pill draw, which hurt us since we didn’t draw well.”

Rolling off on the third row in a stacked heat that included two of the top three drivers in the point standings, as well as Brian Brown, Hunter Schuerenberg, and Lynton Jeffrey, “The Professor” was unable to gain any passing points. “With them going off of passing points, it felt like a bit of bad luck to be in the heat we ended up with,” said Josh. “With Austin [McCarl] and Brooke [Tatnell] the two cars lined up on the inside in front of us and the other guys that were in there, 5th was the best we could do.”

Starting the A-main buried in the field, on the inside of the seventh row, Schneiderman would make his way forward early before getting locked in a battle with Terry McCarl. “We had a great run going in the feature,” said Josh. “I got into the top ten pretty quick and ended up battling with TMAC for about 10 laps near the end of the race, which ended up letting Droud by, but the car felt good.”

Though never one to complain about a clean race, the lack of cautions in the 25-lap main event cost Schneiderman a chance at a top five. “I definitely think our car was good enough to get into the top five, but the race going green-to-checkered let guys get pretty spread out,” said Josh. “Had we been able to have a late caution, I think we would have had something for the next few guys in front of us.”

With the Knoxville Raceway season in the books, Josh and the Deuce Motorsports team will be taking the long Labor Day weekend off from the track, as Schneiderman has business to take care of at home. “My wife and I are getting are house ready to sell, so we’ll be cleaning and taking care of everything with that before I’m on the track again,” said Josh.
