Question for the posse fans...
I am sure they went berserko when he passed Schatz to win WoO race at the Grove.
What about a 5 or 10 or 15,000 to win race against the locals in PA?
Do the fans generally cheer or boo Dewease?
Serious question as I have never been to a race in PA.

A lot people at all the tracks are happy to see him win. Buuut, there is a segment of the population, and they are growing, that are tired of seeing the same car win at almost all the big races in PA.

As is always the case, we have a select few idiots who boo loudly as if the team did something wrong by being better than everyone but for the most part, you hear a lot of cheers. People know a good thing when they see it and even if you talk to people who are sick of seeing them win, they still appreciate the fact that we are witnesses to something legendary and special every time this team hits the track. There's a lot of respect for this team at least from what I've seen. If you go to Williams Grove on any given night you'll see more 69K shirts than just about anyone else.

There are some people, of course, that boo. But I don't think Dewease has ever been as polarizing a driver as Fred Rahmer. Rahmer had lots on fans, but he also had a lot of people that booed him as well (many quite loudly). At least some of that is because Rahmer had more controversial incidents over the course of his career than Dewease, IMO. Rahmer's victory lane interviews were also usually more animated and, at times, controversial.
Having seen Dewease win many, many times over the years, he is almost always very quick to thank fans for supporting the tracks and drivers.

Only place I ever met anti- Lance fans was a bunch of late model fans at Port Royal. Which is the only place I ever saw people cheer when Fast Freddy Sr. wrecked.... which made me an instant Freddy Fan

I am never happy when Dewease wins but I also never boo anyone who runs clean race and wins no matter how much they win. I respect what they have done as a team but can't get excited about going to special races knowing that if the track slicks they are likely going to win. I prefer to not know who will win before the race starts.

My first "big" sprint car race was the year Sammy won at WG National Open (2010?). Lance was in hot pursuit of Sammy at the end, everybody cheering wildly for DeWease, but when Sammy held him off, they both got a huge ovation. ( I seem to remember fans chanting "Sammy, Sammy"
Good sportsmanship! (maybe not the same for Schatz....)

I must admit.....I always respected Lance as a driver but was never a fan of his. My guys were/are Rahmer, Hodnett & Monteith. That being said, what has taken place over the last three years since Dewease teamed up with Kreitz has been pretty special. After Lance passed Schatz for the win at Williams Grove I did something I have never done in 35 years of following the Pa Posse....I purchased my very first Lance Dewease racing shirt.........Got to root for the OLD GUYS.

Dewease beating the outlaws or better yet Schatz. If anyone thinks the place wasn't cheering for him, your crazy. If that was a regular Friday night and it was LD and Monteith I think you may have heard some boo's out there.

We definitely have our share of bandwagon jumpers around here. I remember a person who would literally change shirts throughout the night sometimes and it was always based on how the original shirt choice was doing vs. the secondary choice. Saw it with my own 2 eyes many times from that person. True story.
